He should pay for the repairs. Needs to man up here

I can say for 100% certainty he wont fork over a dime. he doesn't have a dime to fork over. the guy is always broke.

Btw... Just wondering... Why would you lend out a $3,000 guitar? I wouldn't lend out one of my beaters.

Actually, I just showed my wife and we are both pissed about it. Unreal.

this is driving me nuts, the third fret on the b string is almost dead. it just sounds flubby and like shit but I cant figure out why??
Change the string.

I will do that now. I didn't even think of that. Hopefully that somehow makes it sound ok. I have never seen a guitar doi this before where every fret sounds a ok except for one that sounds like shit.

A while back, I had no guitars or amps, I had to sell everything for medical bills. During that awful period, he lets me borrow a couple guitars and an amp. One was a Charvel Custom Shop. But, I took very good care of it.

Ahhhh... Bummer

Dude that's terrible. I would be beyond livid. It's one thing to have screwed up the guitar, mistakes happen; but to lie to your face about it? Unacceptable. Sorry man.

Wow man, that's unbelievable. Mojo sent. There is no way someone doesn't notice that kind of damage. I would assume he knows about the guitars value too since he owned a custom shop charvel. Does he take care of his own stuff?

I can understand your pain. Something similar happened to me about 10 years ago. My good friend (met in the 6th grade, we're still very close) asked to borrow my new Martin to record some acoustic tracks. When he gave it back he let me know that one of the mics that he was using to record it fell into the top, leaving a deep dent. I was pissed at the time but I played that thing so much over the years after that (playing it in many bars, beaches, and outdoor shows) that I wound up dinging it up pretty good on my own. Not saying this is the same situation as yours but that first injury freed me up from worrying about it getting scratched after that.

The big difference is your "friend" is denying it, making the entire situation worse.

Yours took a pretty good fall. I'm betting your "friend" was using the wrong strap or didn't have it secured properly and the bottom strap button became unfastened taking it straight to the floor, followed by the upper horn. The neck took a hit causing the fret out you're hearing. Check the neck joint closely for fine finish cracks. Also check where the headstock meets the neck.

Why don't you relic it? It would make a cool project.

You have dirtbags for friends. Lesson learned... Cut bait...

You could meet a new person everyday till you die. YOu wouldn't even scratch the total population.. Point being, there's no reason to get hung up on some fuckin' hater that won't own up to smashing your guitar because he wishes it was his, but needs to fuck it up for you..

Drop this dude like a bag of trash.

if he admitted to it and said, "man, I screwed up, I dropped your guitar, I am so sorry." I would still be angry, but not nearly as enraged as I am now.

Is it possible that someone else in his house had access to the guitar? A younger sibling or something?

Yeah the whole not "manning up to it" would piss me off more then the dents.
:gethim:

That is ridiculous. I don't care how long you know someone, I'd call him out.
He obviously doesn't respect you or give a shit about the relationship so why should you?
What an asshole. Sorry man.

no, he was the only one there!!!!!

Its a dog toy or your guitar was doled out a dose of blunt force trauma. I'd guess the asshole dropped it.

Holy shit this makes me mad. My condolences sir.

That is no friend.

not anymore he isn't. I called one more time and said, "look man, I wont be angry if you tell me what happened, obviously it was an accident." he actually had the nerve to get fake angry at me and raised his voice and said, "I didn't do anything to your guitar, it must have already been like that and you didn't notice!" so, I have written him off. I was paying back his favor. He let me borrow a killer guitar, but I kept his guitar is perfect shape. a friend would not do what he did today, so I am washing my hands of him.

he has a 4 pound king Charles, the dogs mouth would struggle to get around my pinky finger. was not his dog. plus there was no signs of moisture or dog slobber.
