Had a similar thing happen with my Harley... My follow up to "i dont know how im going to pay but i will" was.... Dont worry about it.... I wouldnt take his money cuz he manned up. This guy is a weasel.

 And that makes a big difference when it comes to family and friends.
Damage is one thing, betrayal of trust is something altogether different.

Been playing 40+ years, there's only 2 people i would lend a guitar or amp to and i would be present when they use it.

One i've known since 1982' the other is my local Vintage shop owner.

Thats it.

what about dave friedman of rock systems

Your fault, mang. Never loan out something you would mind not getting back jacked.

I keep both an amp and a guitar that I don't mind getting back broke in the collection. I don't loan out the dar or the peters, I loan out the 6505.

Doesn't matter how much you love a bro....never loan them your daughter. Let them bang your cousin.

UPDATE: he actually eventually admitted he did it. he said he was flustered because I was so angry so the first thing that came to his mind was, "I didn't do it, I don't know what happened?!?" now I am waiting for him to pay to have it fixed. he is already a month late on that!! at least he admitted it. he denied it for so long that I started questioning as to whether he did it or not. I started thinking that maybe somehow I did it and did not even realize I did it. but then he admitted it. that was a relief. he finally came to his senses. it only took him a few weeks to do it.

It's a Suhr, lesson learned - never lend out a Suhr to anyone. :aww:

That's not how friends deal with friends. I'd let him fix it then write him off.

Me too.

Glad you got some resolution though MoonCobra

Buddy lent me his car for the night. Gas gauge was broken and I ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

Ended up pushing it back to town.

This is why I want to be self-sustained with gear.
Terrible story, and a shitty friend.

Dude, I'm sorry that happened to you. I don't let anyone touch my guitars. I'll share amps because to don't have to strap them around your neck of beat on them, but I have never let anyone play my guitars, other than a few beaters.

I was going to say to have him pay for the repairs, but then, if it was my guitar that got damaged, I would always see that one spot that got chipped, no matter how great of a repair job is done.

It sounds like yours is care of your guitars, so you have two options, either have him pay to have the finish fixed flawlessly, or have the whole guitar replaced.

Also, get some in-suhr-ance from him if he's not going to pay you right now, or start taking chips out of his face...

I never lend music equipment or tools to friends for this very reason.

Sucks dude :(

At least he finally owned up to it. Did he tell you exactly what happened?

When I moved to China for a couple of years, I had a buddy that was going through a divorce and had to sell his gear. So I let him borrow my Gibson Explorer while I was away. I get back and it's all beat to shit. He gives a half assed apology, then says "What do you expect?!?!? It's a guitar, not a museum piece". We're still good buddies, but needless to say, he's not allowed to borrow anything anymore
