Secret Lynch

I'm with ya, I was more into the gear and some of his parts I found were the same approach to the way Lynch uses intervals for his rhythm parts as opposed to full chording.

I like this guy but feel like his playing is in the vein of Lynch but not spot on. That's OK though, he builds cool guitars ( they are way too expensive though) and does cool artwork on stuff. Also has some cool gear videos where he has tweaked amps and pedals or gotten his buddies to make him some gear. As a player he's definitely got some chops and he seems like a good guy. I watch his vids semi regularly if they catch my interest.

Seems like a cool guy but I had to go back and check his other videos to see if the hair was a joke for this video.....it apparently isn't......
It cracked me up when he said I'm not going for the exact tone but rather the vibe...so stick around and I'll show you how I nailed the tone...:ROFLMAO:

I'd never heard of this guy, but clearly he can play. I liked the SLO type tones better across the board, he's in the ballpark for sure but he seems to be missing something in that Lynch touch, especially when its just him playing, which aint necessarily a a bad thing except if you're proclaiming to be a Lynch clone....flip side is he made me fire up my SLO 30 and play some of those tunes so mission accomplished I guess, got me stoked.

I think he's east Indian background so the hair is all his. He just dyes and does weird shit to it all the time. But overall he's a huge 80' s guitar fan like the rest of us and genuinely just loves gear and playing guitar. I don' t think he's putting it on, it's just what he loves to do. His main influence is Lynch but likes all the other big names too. I like his enthusiasm. He never comes off as peddling stuff even if he gives shout outs here and there.

It’s cool that he is into Lynch and playing guitar. To each is own and more power to him. That said, I stand by my comment above.

I don't think you are wrong. Lynch is a very hard style to cop. Levin does it well but most people can play the shapes or the notes but they totally lack the timing.

I've known of Jay for over 20 years. Used to be very active on Lynch's site/forum back when it was kicking.

He's a really good player, but I honestly never thought he was close to sounding like Lynch. He has the picking hand and stage/studio moves akin to Lynch, but tone and phrasing isn't really there IMO.

I know this sounds like a hate post, but honestly he's a cool dude. I like what he does, I like his obsession with Lynch's gear and playing.
