The 212 empties...anyone got any experience with them? They seem more than reasonably priced.

Can't really find any YT reviews.

Budget not much....wish I could find an unloaded Evh
I don't travel or gig so I'm not concerned about it having to "take a beating". It'll basically sit in my office.

But if it doesn't sound good because it's cheap/made in China...well then I'd probably rather not have it.

at least get something made of baltic birch ply, density matters and it is the most popular as well as what everyone is used to. the stagecraft 2x12 from the studio series is $269, only $70 more than the seismic and worth it.

I'd hold out for a used Marshall 1960, you can find them for 2-300 from time to time on Craigslist and GC.com. I have a nice condition JCM 800 1960a cab coming for 389 shipped....GC.com. Maybe more than you want to spend but I'd wait a little and save some more cash and get a better cab. There's a Framus B cab on GC.com for 300 I think...V30s.

I haven't tried their cabs, but I've bought some other things from Seismic, cables and the like. If the cab quality is anything like their cable quality, run like hell. There's a reason for the price. The other recommendations so far would be the way I'd go. I've never heard a bad word about Avatar and sometimes they have great deals on their closeout page. Great customer service too. Heard good things about Stagecraft too.

If you're patient, there are always deals to be had on craigslist, especially post holidays when people need to pay shit off. I bought a loaded Marshall 1960s for $175 and got an old 1982a cab from the 70s for $300. There are some other sleeper cabs I see pop up cheap too. Don't be scared of certain Crate Blue Voodoo cabs. They are baltic birch and some (not all, do your research) are Celestion V30 loaded. I've seen those go cheap.

I've already got a couple 25w green backs...was looking to plug them into an empty cab.

But I'll at least wait until tomorrow comes and goes...see what kind of gifts, gift cards, sales, etc come along.

Thanks guys.

I was happy with my Avatar cab. It was a 112 Vintage. It looked great and sounded good. The build looked solid to my amateur eyes. Only reason I sold it is I have no need for a 112 any longer.

However, if you go Avatar I would feel weird getting it unloaded because the price of adding speakers is very reasonable.

Used 112 Mesa black shadow at GC.
Thumbs up or down?

Just trying to get a feel of what's available AND worth a crap.

Definitely a quality cab. The C90 black shadow is similar to an old school 80s G12 80...fairly neutral speaker. Go for it.

I have a Seismic 2x12 that's made of baltic birch I bought unloaded. I put G12T-75s in it and it sounds fantastic. I keep it at whichever practice space I'm using because I don't care what happens to it. But it's a great and cheap cab.
