You can easily make a 35th anniversary by buying a regular JB and putting a RC A5 in it .
It takes like 15 minutes of your time and your good to go.
The Ant version is just has the degaussed RC A5 mag giving the pickup a sweeter/mellower tone like it's been played for decades with some cosmetic aging .

^^^
Ebay , the dude that goes under Addiction-fx sells them all the time.
Here is one of his auctions.
Make sure you tell him you want rough cast A5 for S.D, pickup when ordering.

You can go to the Seymour Duncan user Forum and everyone there will walk you through it , it's easy.
And they all love to talk pickup mods and styles there all the time , they love to help people.

awesome, thanks for the link you provided to the Ebay store as well. Certainly cheaper to buy 4 than get one pup from the Duncan custom shop.

Looks simple enough.. what did you end up paying cost wise for the JB from the custom shop with roughcast A5? I'm guessing 130-160?

the Duncan custom shop once suggested to me that I should consider a custom pup from them for this reason but who has the $ for that. Wasted cash if it sucks. Another route you could go is trying the new Jason becker sig. pup which is based off a JB as well. Or pop an A2 magnet in a JB. Problem here is that it is great for highs but the low end will be even softer. If you find it though, let us know!

I've wondered how much that is to get a custom pickup created.

Most Duncan Custom shop humbuckers are, or at least were, $160. Don't waste your money. I have bought 3 over time and regretted it. After a few weeks you realize they really don't sound significantly different than the production stuff.

Naturally winders wind things to sound good to their ears which usually means their stuff tends to be variations on a theme. That's why guys love one brand and hate another. If you are note liking SD, I would look at other companies/winders offerings long before I cough up custom shop money

Don't flame me too bad for this.....

But the DMT Baker Act is supposed to be a very good pickup and people have said it's like an improved JB. I just put one in the bridge of my Les Paul Traditional last night.

I know we are not talking a SD, Motor City, BKP, or whatever is trending now. These are USA pickups..(big deal..maybe?) and have some pretty decent reviews.

How do you like the Baker Act? How are the highs? I would be afraid to pickup another AT-1 which is darker but tighter in the bass. I like it, but so far liking the Aldrich better/best. Not sure if i want two of the same though.

On a side note I ordered a couple rough cast A5 bars from the guy on ebAy. Gonna try one in my JB and see what that does while I wait for that custom order I placed with duncan.

Let me know if you hear much of a difference.. I was going to do the same but i'll hold off seeing as shipping is going to be 20+ $ for me in Canada.
