Hey Guys,

Is the bass control on this pedal adjusting how much boost or cut before the drive control or is it after?

Rock on,
Jason

After, AFAIK. It makes the pedal sound bigger if boosted, not farty or fuzzy.

I got you, good to know. I've been looking into boost now with eq options as I think it's a big thing to be able to tune the sound going into the amp. Is it a pretty tight pedal that cuts some bass up front? I'm hoping it does or you would be able to tune that part of the pedal. Maybe I'm looking more for the buxom boost with the tightness control.

Yes, it cuts bass. In fact, I found that with the bass knob set to 0 (12 o'clock), it cut more bass than my TS808, thus making it tighter. You can fatten/loosen it by boosting the bass, or make it even tighter by cutting the bass. Even with the bass set high, I found the 805 was voiced slightly tighter and more modern than the more creamy vintagey 808.

I have both the 805 and Buxom Boost. The 805 does a great job adding a touch of compression, tightness, and saturation with all EQ settings at noon, level max/drive min. I usually turn up the bass knob a bit to get back to baseline with the low end, and sometimes turn it up pretty high for a fat sound. The nice thing I've found with the bass knob is it rarely gets boomy or muddy on extreme settings, just really fat and round. Still, if you turn down the bass, yes it tightens things up but also thins out your tone. This is where the Buxom comes in...

The tight knob on the Buxom Boost takes the cake. It really allows precision control of your low end attack, and when combined with the EQ knobs I can get exactly what I want. In theory (depending on the amp/cab/etc) you could crank the bass AND the tight control and get a wildly thick, tight chug thing going on if you so desire. It is a clean boost so it has hardly any color, if any, compared to the 805 which is still relatively clean for a boost but definitely has it's own sound. Sorry I can't directly answer your question but I hope this helps!

One thing I`ll add about the 805 is that its a pretty quiet pedal compared to the Buxom Boost . I don't find the BB overly noisey but the 805 is a good bit quieter

The 805 has become one of my favorite ODs...terrific tone shaping tool.

Awesome stuff guys, I really want both the buxom boost and 805 now. I just got the large spark boost and has a very clean sound to it. I am loving these boosts with an EQ. Really helps dial in all sorts of great sounds. Thanks guys for your input.

More than the Dragon??

Depends on the day   There's just something the 805 does to the Wizard...don't know how to describe it really. It just adds this raw violent voicing that's nasty, but the Dragon can get the Wizard into this awesome super saturated slightly compressed tone the 805 can't. Both great pedals!

I kinda miss my old 805. Even without the EQ knobs, the core voicing was very nice. Like a modernized Tube Screamer perfect for metal that could do so much more because of the EQ. I just always wished it had a tad more output volume.

I like the 805's miss selling mine. But it's hard to regret profit. I snagged the one I bought for $40 lol.

I want to try a buxom boost so bad.
