What kind of guitar woods are best for these pickups?

The kind of wood that's shaped like a guitar.

There's really no way to answer that question, to be honest. I've tried an Omega in three of my guitars. Two have sapele bodies (which is close to mahogany). One of those has a poplar top, the other buckeye burl. The third guitar has a black limba body and koa top. Sounds good in all three. Actually sounds the same in all three. no difference. But they all have the same neck (wenge/bubinga).

Question for you man.. I like the way that Omega sounds in the vid. Kind of a different character. Ive got a Dimarzio SuperDist in a Paul, & while it sounds good, its pretty ...regular. Im running into a 5150 III or Boogie Mark III.
My question basically is what guitar/amp are you running with it. And just, do you have any other thoughts.

Sure, no problem. I'm running an Omega in two guitars at the moment. Both are Mayones Duvell Elites. One is a regular off-the-shelf Elite (Sapele body, poplar top, wenge/bubinga neck). The other is a Master Builder Collection and has a Sapele body, wenge-bubinga neck, and a buckeye-burl top. The two guitars do sound quite different, on their own, not taking into account the pickups. The poplar Elite is a bit looser and lush. The buckeye burl is tighter, more aggressive, and brighter. Now, with the Omega... those qualities still come through. But the Omega's own qualities are there as well—aggressive, percussive, clear, growl, articulation.

The amps I use mostly are the KSR Ares and the Ceriatone Chupacabra. The Ares is comparable in style to a 5150, Mark III, SLO, and maybe a bit of Diezel. I can't say whether or not you'll like the pickup. But I do. And I play mostly modern rock/metal (Tool, Muse, KSE, Karnivool, APC, Deftones, etc.). But I do play a bit of classic rock and other styles for fun as well and the Omega is a pretty versatile pickup. But it still retains an aggressive character. It's not a PAF, that's for sure.

My other guitar has a Nazgul in the bridge and I quite like it as well. But it's very different.

Before the Nazgul and Omega, I was using Bareknuckles (Black Dog, Nailbomb, and Holy Diver). I much prefer the Nazgul, Omega, and a Sentient in the neck.

A set just popped up for $175, but out of the PRS Holcomb SE model.. I really want to get them, but I'm not sure... Crap..

ok cool... You can only listen & ask questions, then you just gotta bite the bullet & try! ;)
They aint the cheapest either, but I guess you can always exchange..

Its only been 4 months, I forgot... but a few weeks after this, I did get the Omega bridge & Sentient neck.

The OMEGA sounds just fine, I like it! I was expecting it to sound more radically different, more metal, & wasnt expecting the amount of clarity.. its almost classic sounding, to me, but plenty of output & does metal just fine! I think its perfect for my Paul.
Thanks for your input 4T6! ;)

The SENTIENT is VERY cool, to me, for a neck pickup. Different. It isnt sharp or bassy, but has just enough extra mids to bring balance & make it MY favorite neck PU Ive ever tried.

Yeah the Omega isn't a "metal" pickup. It's very clear and articulate.
