Just opened mine tonight and have only touched the surface of what this can do! Just curious if people would be interested in sharing some of their tone settings. Leonardo at Diezel gave me some tips that I’ll share to get this started. If you’re like me you want to get tone of ch2+ Of the herbie, ch3 of the vh4 and some good classic rock settings. Share what you’ve discovered!

Per Leo -

Vh4 - shape 2, classic gets you close
Herbert - shape 1 or 2, modern or classic, mid cut to taste, presence and deep up together

My favourite with a Les Paul and good rhythm riffs:

Yellow channel, bright enabled, vintage mode, 0.5 gain
Blue channel, Shape 2, Vintage mode, 0.4 to 0.6 gain
Blue channel, Shape 1, Classic mode, 0.6 to 0.75 gain

Nice! I haven’t really touched the red much but I love how it stays articulate without being too compressed! The clean tones are also great!

Old thread, thought I'd contribute a couple of my settings and see if others have some I could try out.

I'm playing through a 2x12 Diezel cab with V30's. I have a W/D/W set up also for my reverb and delays, but the settings work with the just dry cab and a touch of onboard reverb and delay to taste, just not as huge as with the two other cabs included. Fine adjust for your own speakers and ears.
Master volume up at about 10:30 to allow the amp to breathe with some good loud headroom. Green channel and with DI selected.

Fenderyish:

Gain- 0.45
Bright- 1 - Vintage
Treble- 0.90
Middle- 0.25
Bass- 0.70
Volume- 0.65 (w/Boost)
Pres- 0.55
Midcut- 1.00
Deep- 0.65

AnoTher Clean:

Gain- 0.70
Bright- 0 Classic
Treble- 0.85
Middle- 0.20
Bass- 0.50
Volume- 0.70
Presence- 0.75
Midcut- 0.20
Deep- 0.40

:)

Still experimenting with mine...
Interesting Mid-settings from my perspective..
I am currently using VHX as DI only, still experimental stage..

My basic setting for Clean (Fender Standard, Neck PU:)

Gain: 0.55
Vintage / Bright: on
Treble 0.65
Mid: 0.4
Bass: 0.55
Vol: 0.6 / Boost enabled
Presence 0.65
Mid Cut: 0.25
Deep: 0.6

Speaker V30/R121 Position 3

Very light Reverb (as I prefer to have stereo Reverb in the DAW)

To enrich it a little, some Chorus:

Speed 0.35
Depth: 0.25
FB: 0.2
Tone: 0.4
Level to taste, mostly around 0.3-0.4

Compressor, basically flat, some more sustain, Blend to taste..

I went and made this chart to kinda keep track of what was what as far as matching the Diezel amps I loved on the VHX. I grabbed the VH4 CH3 from a comment from Peter somewhere. If anyone has any others, please lemme know, and add a reference if possible, and I'll keep updating it.

From my perspective (at least Channel 1-3, haven't been on the red one too much so far) the classic (2) settings (Flat, without Mid-Cut) compare very similar to the VH4...

Tried it very quick and dirty, comparison VH4 vs VHX on CH2 (seems I am bored by Covid regulations :aww: )

please do not embarrass me on the playing, very simple quick play through just for comparison reason.

As I am lacking a Cab at home (would blow my windows away or neighbors would call the police) its straight into DAW using some free IR I have found on the net.

Setup:
Guitar to VH4, VH4 Thru to VHX
VH4 via Load box and direct signal to DAW
VHX via DI direct to DAW
DAW-IR: SM7 / 12T75

not sure if this setup works properly….
Tried to put everything on same setting (1 o Clock, mid´s to 12 o Clock)

no effects, post processing or whatever, just some very slight reverb (Lexicon) via DAW.

00:00 to 00:17 is the VH4
00:18 to 00:35 the VHX

HTML:
https://soundcloud.com/fit-dl/vh4vhx

However, I think the comparing lacks because of the setup.....

regards

@Leo, btw, have you thought about bringing an SM7B Mic into the built in IR?

Very nice clips! Thank you for posting them!

Please note that VHX Gain settings has an improoved taper response: the sweet spot found on all diezel amps from 0.55 to 0.65 is spreaded in 0.45 to 0.75 on VHX for better control of it, so VHX will have more gain at same knob position.

No there was no plans for that actually, but since we will expand it with more speakers and cabs I will put it in the list :)

Thank you!
Leo

Resurrecting this old thread.

Surely others have some great presets to share now that the VHX has been out in the wild so long?

Here's a Tight Chuggy Metal preset I made:

Gain: 1.00 - RED
Shape: 1 - Modern
Treble: 0.50
Middle: 0.20
Bass: 0.60

Volume: 0.35 - Boosted
Pres: 0.30
Midcut: 0.65
Deep: 0.60

Using a 'Gate' block too

(w/V30 2x12 cab)

Master Volume: around 09:30 - 10:00ish - about 100 dB

Happy to share another one CH2 as very basic setup and quick and dirty:

as always, depends on so many factors, guitar speaker etc, this one I use for PRS, Bridge, and IR Output to DAW around 90-120 bpm

CHANNEL: yellow
Gain: 0,7 (might be too high)
Bright: on / Classic
Treble: 0,65
Mid: 0,6
Bass:0,5
Presence: 0,55
Volume: 0,5
Midcut: 0,00
Deep: 0,5

CAB: V30
MIC: MD421
Position: 0,4
LOW: 0,85
HIGH: 0,75

DELAY: Digital
Time: 550
Feedback 0,2
Tone: 0,35
Level: 0,25

REVERB: HALL (goes into DAW, might need to be lower on real cab in room)
Pre-Delay: 0,25
Low/High: 0,5
Decay: 0,15
Level: 0,4

A couple of my faves:

Blue Channel, Early, Shape 0.
Gain: .45 Presence: .55
Treble: .60 Deep: .50
Mids: .55
Bass: .50

This is a tight, fast, Blueface VH4 tone.

Red Channel, Classic, Shape 2.
Gain: .35
Treble: .55 presence: .55
Mids: .65 Deep: .45
Bass: .50 Effects: a little digital delay and hall reverb

This is my Hagen Ch4 lead set-up. Gain seems low, but I like it a bit lower on the red channels to preserve as much punch as I can. Still lots of gain and enough saturation, plus the Hagen setting feels really great to play!

Chuggy McChugerson
**Meant for drop tuned extended range guitars**

7 string lundgren M7 pickups
Mesa oversized 412 with mesa stock v30s
Fortin saw boost
Master around 8:30 to 10:00
Sounds great without boost just add more gain as needed and turn the bass down as needed.
Speakers make a huge difference also

The EQ in the VHX is just wonderful!
Love this amplifier! Running stock kt77s so many tonez

Killer setup and I'll try those settings out. I too love the EQ on the VHX. I find the VHX is a bit bassy or has some flub depending on the pickups and woods of a guitar and the GEQ really helps dial it out and tighten up the sound.

Side questions for a noob like me. I have a Diezel 4X12 (old one and I forget if it is front or rear loaded). How would you describe the Mesa 4X12 and Marshall 4X12? When I move next year I want to get another cab for my VH4. So a cab for my VHX and one for the VH4.

Cheers!
