Back when I did it in ‘99 just take the test and you’re all set.
Today, it’s finger prints and background check and wait for approval.
A new exam and then basically a second version of the same exam.
Well for us rookies lol

I got mine the first time in 2013 and we had to do all that. Have to on renewals too. Which is definitely a money grab since my fingerprints don't change and since my employer and the DMV would be notified immediately if I became a felon.
