Amp went down at a gig years ago...my trusty ghetto rack running though it...took the line out of the JMP-1 straight to FOH...gave myself a touch in my monitors...had great tone!! There's really no need for amps anymore but...they are part of us...

Yep, had an amp go out on me at a gig (covers) straight to the board after that and played everything Jazzy clean (covers) and everybody dug it.

Yea but to be honest, when I have good tone on stage I play much better. People always say it sounds great out front....... reason being most of them don't know better. :dunno:

I have been told the difference between good & bad guitar players is good guitar players do not break strings ?

I'm with you there. By the time it goes through some trashed SM57 into a cheap board, cheap power amps, cheap PA speakers, and a sound engineer who's blown out his hearing above 2khz, it probably sounds nothing like what your amp does out front. But onstage, if it's there, you can do no wrong.

combo amp and pedals plus a cab simulator to go to the board if it sounds better than the mic is probably a bullet proof way to usable live tones. Nowadays i am not sure the point of a 4 x 12 if all you are doing is mic'ing one speaker. I haven't really seen that many stacks on stage lately. Most people have a combo out of sight or off to the side or even turned around with a mic on it so it doesn't get bumped.

This is sort of where I am with this little box of X's and O's.

Yup....the "ooomph" factor is missing

Maybe one of those "facade" walls of Marshall cabs behind me would be appropriate?

Nah....thats crazy talk. Its just the flavor of the week.

My advice? Drink heavily.

Nah, I don't like it one damn bit. Other than it sounds acceptable, surprisingly. It's been gathering dust for year and just happened to try it out. All I am saying....feel me?

I use my RP1000 all the time for practicing. I record a lot of tracks with it too for my little production music bits.

It's a great tool. If you start dialing it in it gets even better.

I feel for ya mate! Perhaps it's girl code for trying to take an interest in your thing?
I'm not convinced yet with all the digital stuff, I mean..it's like this
You can get yourself down the quarter mile in a wiz bang frame with turbo and all the trimmings but there's just no substitute for pure balls and American muscle that weighs a tonne.

To me an amp is like that, I gotta feel it.

Ya mon

Yeah, at the end of the day, I like to feel a little thump behind me. Funny though, I can either load a van up to go to a gig with the big unit, or I could grab the digital toy box and go on a moped...

Moped?

Fucking a fat girl is like riding a moped. It's fun but don't let your friends see you doing it.

Have to add playing a pod to that

I don't know Steve. I was hanging in th ebar at Wells Afrgo last night at the Rush show. We wound up in the corner of the bar . There was a guy there by himself on his phone. Listening to him it sounded like he was talking to this Matt guy who was with Alex Lifeson backstage working on his equipment. The guy had a Fractal shirt on. We got to talking. He said that was his friend who was a guitar/effects tech for big groups. He said he now works for Fractal. He said Alex was using his amps and the Axe II.Matt was with Alex getting him ready for the gig. He talked about the Jubilee amps and his sound on the newer songs. He then said not to worry because he has presets in the AXE that still sound like his older sound. I tried to get comp up front seats with him but it didn't happen. Rush was beyond good last night. Getty said it was their best show yet of this tour. There sound was as good as I have ever heard them. Well anyway if its good enough for Lifeson.......

......ended up at the bar       well, of course.

i don't think rush is using any cabs on stage at all with everything going FOH. alex used a pile of palmer emulators in the past to send everything up and the band getting the monitor mix bounced back through IEM's. it seems to be the next step in the change from noisy stage to quiet stage and all the audio up front. i think there is an evolution happening :D

Hence why my amp is gone. I used the Kemper live last night and was floored by how great it sounded. So happy with this purchase. The fact that each preset actually sounds authentic is worth it's weight in gold. Really.....I have a pile of amps, some of which I have owned in it. I haven't missed my amp for one minute.

Some may think it's still the flavour of the month...but this box is different. It serves me 3 purposes....both recording and live and actually sounds authentic, thus, that works for my situation.

Nothing else to do to kill time. Nice big bar with a Chickey and Petes. I agree. Change is happening.

Direct to FOH mixer or amped/cab? Can it do both like the Axe FX?
