Short Clip: RAT Content

Not a bad tone at all. If Nuno can make a Rat do 80s rock for him and you're getting some good sounds...maybe I should also buy a Rat.

I think everyone should have a Rat, it's just a different vibe from all the other marshall type stomp boxes. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think I can hear it on that first extreme album.

Hahaha thanks man, my recording setup is neanderthal, I think this is the best I can squeeze out of it until I get something more professional. It's just a phone recording.

You certainly managed to make some lemonade out of them lemons 🤘

Sounds good! I would most likely use it for leads at that type of setting as its a little flubby on the palm mutes, but it sounds full for the single notes

Might have to tweak the filter a bit to dial in a hair more rhythm friendly

Sounded great! I bought a RAT2 a few months ago after seeing how Nuno uses his RAT pedal. I still haven’t opened the box! 🤣

Sounds great! Are you using the Nuno settings? The Rat provides alot of nice clank and aggression as well harmonic content when used as a boost and not a distortion or fuzz pedal.

What amp are you running in this clip with the Rat? I love my 85 whiteface reissue Rat!

Got it man, I agree, maybe I'll adjust the boost going into it also.

Im not actually running it the way Nuno does. I dont think I like it as a boost. I prefer it to be boosted into, cos that gives you the option to turn the boost off and get some nice crunch rythym tones. So Im running it with the filter on about 1 o clock, and the gain way down low, like at 9 o clock, and then I boost into that. So Im kind of just using it like a gain stage. Then I send it into a 2 notes Le Clean for some tube preamp warmth.

However the rest of my actual setup and how this was recorded, is pretty shocking. I was so surprised how this turned out. No Amp, No IRs.

So there is no amplifier in this clip? You are using the Rat pedal as a preamp platform then boosting the Rat pedal with another overdrive?????? There must be speakers involved somewhere.

Yeah that's definitely a different way to approach things............It does sound good whatever you are doing.....

So the shocking truth is this..... Im running this in the effects loop of my Boss GT10. Im boosting the Rat with the OD1 model. Thats going into the Le Clean which is going back into the GT10 effect loop. Then Im using the headphone output into one of those small rechargable JBL speakers. No cab sim or amp model selected.

The headphone output of the GT10 has to be doing speaker simulation, I swear it is, but this is not documented in the manual....and it sounds way better than any of the (shite) amp/cab sims in that pedal, and its better than the cab sim of the Two Notes (supposedly world class, whatever...), which Im just leaving turned off.

Im then recording the JBL speaker with my phone. Nuts, huh?
