Nothing is free. It's worked into the price. Your $3000 guitar with a case would be a $3200 guitar. Your $2800 guitar would be a $3000 guitar with a case. I would say if the guitar doesn't come with a case they are giving you the option of saving a few hundred bucks up front and do what you want as far as a case.

Got this sweet ass corvette.....
10 grand!

Go to pay. Dealer .... so.....would you’ll like a motor and wheels?!?

Only. 40 grand more.
A better analogy would be, I bought a corvette but they didn't include a garage. Would you be mad?

A free case is essentially like asking for a free garage to go with your new Corvette to protect it from storms/hail/etc. Cases cost money, and everyone has a personal preference. In that case (no pun intended) - it should be up to the buyer to also purchase a case. What puts a wrench in the gears, is custom shaped guitars that don't fit in traditional style cases.

Edit: LOL beat me to the garage analogy by 5 seconds

Obviously if you order a double neck 9 string guitar with 7 wings, I am not expecting a case. I am saying a standard shaped guitar.

i got a suhr classic pro and it came with a hard case. is that normal?

Comparing a guitar case to a garage??? Nonsense. Is your garage or corvette portable?

What is portable that normally includes a case? Does a laptop come with a case. Does a $1200 cellphone come with a case. No but they are available to purchase at an extra cost.

I think certain guns come with cases no? I am Canadian so not gun savy lol

I think expensive violins come with cases no?
