Should I buy a Groove Tubes Trio?

I can get one for a reasonable price.

I want it. I should probably just buy the damn thing.

If it's a good deal you should get it. I wish I had kept the one I sold. About 5 years ago I ditched all of my rack gear but have since gone back to a rack system and I know I would be using the Trio for my clean tones at the very least if I would have kept it.

I have been using a Groove Tubes Trio for about 10 years. This preamp just can't be beat. I have the good fortune of also owning a Groove Tubes D75 stereo power amp with a GT EX410 cabinet. This combination is deadly! I can get any tone I need for various styles of music (metal, classic rock, blues, you name it). I also run a Rocktron Xpression multi-effects unit through the Trio's parallel effects loop. Again, if you can get one for a decent price, don't hesitate.

meh. the gas is gone. :aww:

The following are higher up on the list right now.

1. Egnater IE-4 redface
2. Rocktron Egnater VP-4
3. Bogner Fish (hopefully I find one in a clueless store somewhere)
4. VHT GP-3
5. Hamer Steve Stevens SS2 with block inlays

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that was a GT employee since his post count is 2, it was a delayed response to your original post, and he SO praised the Trio. I could be wrong though I suppose.

The limb you referred to is the wrong limb. I am not a Groove Tubes employee. Just a new member passing on a positive experience.

Yeah, but that will be easily twice the the price of a red IE4. :aww:

I was thinking of modding the IE4 to have an EG5 channel.

Those pre's sound really good. If you dont think you's take it why not pas on the love?

b/c it's already gone, it didn't come with a footswitch, :aww: and it didn't have the midi upgrade. :gethim:

DOn't tell me what to pass on or not. :(

Ok as per my earlier statement ,

maybe an E2 with SL2. EG5 when its ready, im sure that will probably be less than a red face Ie4
especially since you already have the power amp to mate it with

no way mang.

I've seen red facers go for $1025.

a new M4 + 4 modules = $2000+
