Local shop offered me a new splawn quickrod for $1700 out the door. It is the vintage plexi marshall style face/knobs/etc.

yes/no?

UPDATE: turns out it's a 2009 - I asked the shop what was the lowest they'd go on it and they said $1600 out the door (including tax).

what do you guys think is a fair price for a "new" 2009 quickrod in a music store?

When you say new, you mean like new new? 2012, just built this year new? Or new to the shop and just slightly used. If its a brand new model then yes I'd say grab it for that price. Its a hair cheaper than what you would pay if you ordered it from Scott directly. Plus no wait.

eventhough it is a 2009?
Why?, when you can buy these all day long that are like new for $1200. If it's an '09 and never been "sold" it's still considered "new" at a retailer. But I'm sure it's got miles on it unless it was still in the box in the back room and was forgotten about. But I doubt that. So I'd call it used. Besides, the '12 models have improvements made on them too.

Once you pay new price for an 09, when it is one day old to you it is 3 years old to the rest of the world.

It isn't worth it. Let the store suck up more of that huge model year loss. 1400 if you don't want the new improved. Makes ya wonder why it has been sitting around and not purchased for so long. Is it substandard in some way? If you have not played a new one, you don't know what you are missing.

1950 is the sticker price on a new one at Atlanta Discount Music on Friday. They will give a little. Killer amp.

The 2012 version is revised and supposed to be better. There is an option on the new ones for a different lower plate voltage tranny which is supposedly good.

Heck for a couple bucks more you can get the latest and greatest 2012 model.....

That's sounds high for a 2009 QR. Aren't they price around $1800.00 new?

Once you walk out with it it's not "new" anymore and its worth the same $1200 or less that they go for used. Buy a used one and save some dough.

You can get an 09 QR on eBay for under $1300 all day. Keep in mind one of the "improvements" on the 2012 are different tranny's. No more MM units in the Splawns. Other than that, I hear they have a bit more saturation. The 09 does have the loop volume and IMO, that's the last real improvement these amps need.

Get one but don't pay $1600 for this one.
