Finally getting a chance to share my experience with Jeremy at Ground Zero Ampworks.
I had a vision in my mind for a while of what I wanted and contacted Jeremy regarding his MOAB mods.
Quite frankly, his YouTube clips exemplify the tone that Marshall should have made decades ago.
To my ears no other amp builder/modder around seems to capture every nuance of what makes Marshalls great and simply gives you MORE of everything,
without losing any desirable traits in stock amps.
His ears are really attuned to what I also was looking for, so I thought I would reach out.
Here is the end result:
May I to you present the mini MOAB!
The amp started life as a 1980 JMP 50 2104 2x12 Combo.
As I only wanted the chassis, because the price of 2204's are ridiculous these days and I was able to get the combo in nigh pristine condition for a steal compared to a 2204 even though they essentially ARE the same amp.
I sold the 2x12 cab to a guy locally that wanted a refresh on his combo so it was a win for both of us.
I purchased the tall 20" head shell from Mojotone and then shipped it off to Jeremy.
My goal was to make the ultimate REAL Marshall mini head that would still blow the doors off if called upon to do so.
I asked Jeremy to give me every option that he could squeeze into that small of a space and he delivered everything I asked for.
We stayed with a 3 stage mod, but frankly having the amp in my possession, it wouldn't ever need any more.
Jeremy kept me informed every step of the way with pics and details and it was such a fun project to see it come to life.
Super Cool dude and very easy to work with. Truly a professional and and artist at his craft.
Jeremy/RedPlated's MOAB mod is essentially THE Idealized Marshall High Gainer.
My entire mod experience was fantastic & I got everything I wanted and more.
I won't go into all the details about the controls, but suffice it to say, every control changes the way the amp FEELS in a pleasing and musical way.
I've never had a single amp that you could cater how it feels and responds to tune it exactly how you prefer.
Many amps have controls that affect the tonality but are stiff & 1 dimensional.
The MOAB is ALIVE and begs you to extract all that it has to offer.
I had hoped the amp would be my be all, end all, lifetime amp, but being a poor small business owner, I couldn't really afford it to begin with.
If the amp ends up becoming available, know for sure that it will deliver in spades, & I wouldn't hesitate to send another off to Jeremy in the future,
should the funds become available.
Dude is a class act and deserves all the accolades this forum can offer, Because he knows what you want and how to deliver it.
Thanks again brother!
