I've been an LP humbucker type of guy all my life but I can't decide whether to switch to singles or keep it hss. I'm borrowing a friend's tele right now with single neck and bridge and it sounds very fat. Maybe I'll just get a 3 single coil model and put very hot single pups in?

Teles always sound fatter than strats, imo, so don't judge your single coil experience with a tele.
I'd say get a tele and a strat![]()
You might also consider a G&L Legacy or S-500, very solid guitars that are steals used. The difference is the pickups (I think the S-500 is hotter).
