i've met Guthrie, he's a lovely chap but certainly not what you would call 'big', the strength in his fingers to do that is phenomenal

Not saying those scales are not advanced, but one hand is much easier than 2 imo.

Exactly. Cut it down to only one finger and it's even easier. Think about it, the most effortless way is to play without using any fingers so I think the logic here works.

  I think you might need all 4 for these scales....

But if your guitar can hold the sustain than any legato is easier than picking the notes.

I think you guys are on to something here. Until I see this dude, without touching the fretboard, generate those notes - color me unimpressed.

Again not to take anything away from this guy he is amazing, but any scale that you can play; you should be able to do legato, pack a bowl, smoke it and drink a cup of tea while doing it.

Like masturbating.
Not if you change out hands after each pass. Always fresh that way. Takes timing and practice. But damn is it worth it.

You gotta be kidding me...

Steve

i do however agree with what madnotez said....you should be able to do your scales legato...part of your practice regim should be doing just that to strengthen your fingers.

but theres a lot more going on in this vid than just running legato up some scales.

Well, you know, in my case I gotta use both hands at once. Just a sheer "size management" thing, that's all :dunno:

Well, it's pretty obvious to me that Guthrie's able to do this on a Suhr.

Probably next to impossible on a Charvel, pfffffft... :poke:

True. If I can find a "little person" to offer handjobs, hell, it's always the way to go. But with recent UN resolutions and human rights councils and laws, it's getting harder and harder... No pun intended.

No hating, I love this guy...

No shit talking, just saying to me legato is easier than picking the same scale.

Send me a camera, Ill send you a video of me jerking off and doing some runs. :jerkit:
