I'm gonna be looking on the fryette user forum. I'm sure there's old info there but I wanted to ask on here first.

Anyone own both of these? Some Fryette guys a while back had told me the Sig is basically a Deliverance with bells and whistles but is that 100% true?

Is there any different voicing? One more aggressive than the other?

Any sonic differences at all?

if you need a multi channel amp, Sig X will probably be cool - Rob from Volbeat/Anthrax tours with them
if you want a simple full on assault of rock tones to full out chainsaw to jugular metal sound - D120 all day long man, not even kidding. Makes my Uber sound like a wet noodle

My Sig: X

My D120

Both amps are about dead to nuts identical tonally.

Perfect. Thank you this is what I needed to see.

I hear the D having a bit more depth or bass than the Sig but I am sure that can be tweaked with the eq no? Other than that they do sound very similar in this comparison.

It's sooo hard to really judge tone on the web. The Deliverance has a type of power and punch with articulation that I've only heard with an SLO. I haven't heard a Sig X but I'm sure it's great and definitely more versatile...but seriously this Deliverance has eased the pain of selling my SLO. First amp in a long time(SLO was the other) that I can't wait to gig with. I play higher gain hard rock, modern and back to the 80s. For cleans I switch to less mode and re-boost with a pedal, and then if I don't need any cleans I switch back to more mode and I have all the gain I need, and it's VERY tight....great amp. I have a D60.....I've heard the 120 is even better..

+1 web doesn't do most amps justice
Fryette has to be played in person to get it - I like their voicing for sure

I think David Torn said that the D120 is his favorite of the two, but only slightly. If you don't need the bells and whistles the Deliverance is hard to beat.

FYI there is a D60 online at GC...999...it's a Fryette. No difference with the VHT nameplate to my knowledge.

That's rapage :D

If I did decide to get one I'd get the D120 anyhow.

But I've seen more than one D60 sell for $700 on GC. They even had one without a shell for $600.

I'd definitely wait for the right one. If I did pay $1,000-$1,000 it would be for a D120 with loop.

There's one available now for $1,150 but I'm still undecided and need to wait 2 more weeks before I can buy.

Yeah I paid $999 for my NEW D120 from GC a few years ago. I'd never pay more than $700 shipped for a D60 and not much more for a D120. I got my Sig for $1200 shipped used in mint condition.

I just had to return a Sig:X that I bought off Ebay. It had noisy pots, an effects loop that cut out, and then it died taking out the DC fuse. Probably just needed a good cleaning and new power tubes, but I didn't feel like shelling out the $ only to find out that it had other issues.
I will say this, that amp is badass. It has a very woody vibe to it, and is super dynamic. You can dial it in for slight crunch, pick light or use guitar volume for cleans, whack it with a boost for heavy stuff, or set it up to be super thick and deep with tons of gain, that still lets the notes ring through. I am going to pick up another Fryette to compliment my Fargen Olde 800. Dunno if I'm gonna get another Sig:X or a Deliverance with the effects loop. I don't need the features of the Siggy, but that clean channel is pretty awesome. The 40 watt mode using a tube rectifier is very in-your-face, with lots of feel to it. Might have to be another Siggy.

Was it the one shipping from Vegas?

That one looked pretty beat up if that's the one.

The Fryette forums stink. NO ACTION.

But on topic, it makes sense that a single channel purpose built amp would have the most vibrance and fidelity.

My D120H is so dynamic and beastly. When you lay into a chord, it gives it to you. When you back off on the attack, it stays glassy and clear which is something I really like.

Yes I REALLY want a D120. Unfortunately at this stage in my life I can only justify having one amp at a time but someday I will get one.

The Fryette forums   You are correct. I am on there now trying to get info on my 94' Ultra Lead and there is me and one other guy having a discussion.

If I really need assistance I just call or email Fryette. I have heard people say negative things but I have had great experiences with their service. Actually pretty amazing experiences. If I ever need my amp worked on, it is definitely going there.

But yes Back on topic. Jer's clips really helped me. There are subtle differences between the D120 and Sig.

I was mainly looking to see if the sig dirt was the SAME EXACT as the D120 dirt and I now think that is not the case. I was looking to buy one of these but ended up going with the Ultra Lead.

I would definitely rock a Sig:X for the right price but I would most likely get the D120 instead.

I've owned both and I would take the D60 over the Sig:X. along with the Fryette cab with P50 (a must IMHO).

I did have the D212 and while it WAS awesome, my Madison cabs sounded better with both amps.

Interesting.

I have a love hate with the VHT cabs.

I really liked it, did sound good and I know it is well built. I had the D412 and it was too directional for me. The FB is supposed to be even more directional but never tried one.

It was great directly in front, but if you were standing anywhere else it didnt sound the same. Was like a lazer beam of sound only in front of the amp.

I want something that fills the room more. The cab I have now works but I think I will get a Mesa Trad for my next cab purchase.

I play my d60 through a pair of mode four cabs(underated and cheap), and its a monster! I like the other vhts as well but the deliverance has a lot of different tones the more used to the dual gain controls i get. I play next to another guitarist who uses an early jcm 800, and my d60 sounds like the 800 with more ass.
I really like the 100 watt celestions with this head.

Steve
