Anyone here use a single channel for say...Motown to modern metal?

I've got a single channel Cornford. Pretty decent consolation amp considering I had to let go of my VH4.
I do play with the settings a fair bit when I want the amp super clean. I prefer amp distortion & overdrive pedals to clean amps & distortion pedals. Bit of a compromise if you want to play a mix of styles I guess.

When I was gigging out 2017-prior I used 2203/4s and a Deliverance 60, among others...they worked well with a few pedals for heavier stuff and the guitar volume for semi-clean stuff..everything from the Commodores(Brick House) to Metallica and in between. The D60 could do 99% of the stuff we did without any boost, and just using the guitar volume it cleaned up almost completely...best amp I've played in that category.

I've been using a Reverend Kingsnake 1x12 combo amp, set on U.S. on the Schizo switch, as a clean Fender blackface amp tone with a Fractal Audio FX-8 floor processor connected via 4 cable method. I use the Kingsnake amp as a clean pedal platform and use the FX-8 for pre & post effects with the amp. It's quiet, flexible, portable (under 40lbs), has great headroom, and works great with for my Top 40 cover band gigs. That being said, if I played more rock or needed an amp with more high gain tone for my cover band set list, I would revert to using my Marshall 6101 combo amp or Krank Nineteen80 Jr. 20 watt or Stiff 90-AD 50 watt amp heads/Marshall 1912 1x12 cabs.

I think that would be very hard to do without using pedals to boost for more gain, but if you're stepping on OD pedals, not sure if that's functionally different than stepping on a switch to change channels.
That said, I for whatever reason tend to prefer either single-channel amps or just parking in one channel of an amp and using OD pedals, so what do I know.
The best amp at this, by far, that I've used is a raging Marshall Super Lead (into a Fryette Power Station so that I don't kill myself). Once it's really cranked up, there is a lot of overdrive, and a Tube Screamer and hotter pickups easily send it into what I can use for modern metal. But click off the boost pedal and roll back the volume knob, and everything cleans up amazingly well.
