quick noodle this morning as I'm packing up the house for a move results in 3 hours of sonic destruction...

careful with this amp folks, it's addictive like crack, and equally as nihilistic on wall hangings and nearby furniture

my GAWD Friedman... what have you done here :worship: :m17:

HOLY FUCKING ARMAGEDDON men!! :rawk:

Tone intact throughout all channels - check!
Note clarity and definition and articulation throughout all channels and even with massive gain - check!
Low end - holy mother of hell, this thing not only moves furniture but blows the goddman lint outta my asscrack - check!
Sounds delicious and raw and juicy and absolutely possessed by the wickedest of sonic demons - check!
Plays nice with guitar controls - check!
Versatility - WAY more than I'd ever expected, so a bigass definite - check!
Tasty? Um....hands down speechless - aaaaaaaaaaaand - CHECK!!

Preference between the JJ and Slax?? How about we just say one just HAPPENS to have their two hottest favourite EVAR!!!! goddesses at your beck and call, wearing only beautiful g-strings and stilettos, sauntering around your house 24/7... It doesn't matter which you choose, it's just so damn fine.... SO damn fine.

*Heaven and Heavenly Hellacious*

More to follow - fingers raw - but my GAWD.... like, um, ya....speechless at this time.

Mr. Friedman - "thanks" is the least I can offer at this juncture of time.

These amp?? :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :rawk:
Man this right here! SOOOOOO many tones in this amp.

Wasn't necessary, but just to let anyone know who may be interested... I rolled a brand new LPS into the Phase Inverter slot; a Gold-Lion ECC83 into V1, and 2 Svetlana 12AX7 in V2 and V3.

Did it make it sound better? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaah, it's hard to make this amp "sound better".
What did it do? Muted a bit of the hiss on the higher gain settings; and V1 "I think" offers a bit for sparkle in the grittiness of Ch.1

Just saying, takes new plugs well. Stays amazingly heavy. Love the breadth of tones. Love the amp. Period.

Peace!!

SLAX masters the intro to "Call of Ktulu" on its Channel 1 just naturally. It's as clean as it'll get without going anemic on the vol-pot on the guitar; but I got it there, loudly, and was thinking "I know this sound...I know this slightly hairy clean sound". Started playing the opening to Ktulu and it was bang on. Slight bit more hair with the Slax where it wanted to be and my guitar with enough volume dialled in to feel the call-and-response effect of the amp, but man, right there - that's the Slax clean channel.

Love it!!

As mentioned on the main thread, I've spent some solid QT with the Slax.

One word to describe this amp...

"Glorious".

It's a keeper

Versatile, totally amazing dynamics and responsiveness, takes high-output pups amazingly well (dare I say, may even prefer them??), simple controls offering complex tone, love the simplicity of the front plate and rear plate - just straight up all business, no nonsense. Sounds great through a variety of cabs, might be up for trying the 12/15 cab down the road - maybe. Is it necessary? I don't think so - but I'm sure it's got its merits on a stage. But this amp - wow - it's up there in "sonic perfection" with the 20thA EL34 XTC and the VH4. Complete package amps that excel at all levels in almost all genres.

Beautiful amp for so many tones - and all those tones are exquisite.
