I have a gig this evening where I’m gonna have to play through a 4x12 with Greenbacks. I usually use the SLO100 with 75’s. I play loud, amp will be on 6. What’s the odds I blow speakers?

Depends on how aggressive your pick attack is, how thick your low strings are, and how broken in the speakers are. Been there done that which is one reason I switched to a lighter gauge on the low E.

Using 9.5’s in Eb. I tend to cut a lot of the bass out of the EQ, usually around 3-4 on the knob.

I doubt you'll have any issues. Nothing is out of the realm of possibility though. I had a 1960ax and a 100 watt RI plexi and did have to do a couple recones through the years but I was also using 46's and 49's tuned to Eb and had a heavy pick attack at the time. The main thing is just to play well, have a good time, and make it home alive, all the rest can be managed later! I'm gonna be cranking some Twin Reverb tonight. Have fun bro!!!

Thanks man. Yeah, agree should be fine. I’m just wanting to make it through the set without fart sounds lol

The key to a good show is to be prepared to go full Blackmore if it blows up. Bring fireworks.

I ran a 100w Marshall through a 4x12 with Greenies for a while, always full tilt, rarely with an attenuator. It did blow two speakers eventually. But it took a while. And that head really put out about 136w.
