I am going to buy one of these in the near future which would you go for ? The slo will have the depth, mid, effects loop mods, or the ccv. Just your thoughts guys.

Didnt think cameron was really producing anything other than a trickle of amps and had something like a 10 month back order. Unless you have a CCV available to you right here and now the only option would seem to be the SLO. I have never owned a CCV or a SLO but based just on clip after clip the CCV always seemed more interesting. As you asked just my thoughts...

Based on clips, the CCV definitely fits my fancy a hundred times more than the SLO

But based on my personal experiences with a Soldano Hot Rod and my Cameron Marshall.... There's no way I'd choose a SLO over a Cameron if they were both readily available. IF being the key. You'll be hard pressed to find a CCV!

For the price people are asking for the CCV, I'd buy a SLO and an XTC and call it a day.

The SLO is a legendary amp no doubt. It's been cloned and ripped off time and time again by others. I have owned two of them. That said, IMHO the CCV is far more versatile and has a superior tone.

Just played my CCV at a gig a few days ago. I couldn't even begin to articulate how great this amp sounds. Add the fantastic clean channel into the mix and this amp is hard to beat.

If I were looking at Soldano, I would have to go with the Decatone. I like it better than the SLO, as it has more gain on tap and I like the fact that it has a global master.

Gee, an unavailable amp, built by a rat, a Mesa in a Marshall headshell...... or something readily available. Tough choice

Hi Carl.

I guess CCV orders are being filled now, slowly I might add. Of those two choices I think I'd take my chances with the CCV. I think it was Shadowfax who received his a few months ago after a little over a year wait.

I'd buy a Friedman Marsha before both of them though. Friedman has one of the best modded Marshall tones around with hardly any wait time. And you know you're dealing with a straight shooter and all around good guy.

Greg I used to own an SLO and have played a CCM. When I was at your house I heard you playing some crushing modern 7 string stuff. I'm not sure the SLO is ideal for that type of playing. The Cameron would probably be a little better for that style. If heavy modern stuff is what you're after I can't imagine a better amp than the Herbert you already have. That said... the Cameron and SLO are incredible designs and I would enjoy having either.

Very different amps....

The ccv will NEVER be a mass produced amp. They never have and never will be available in large quantity and that's what makes them more unique. They are hand built 1 at a time by Mark. Expect to see 1 a month come out...

I like the SLO but it's so different from the ccv. CCV will do modern / and vintage tones really well. Way more punch and push to... the SLO does not get very modern in my opinion and is alot more fizzy/fuzzy sounding with a less pronounced bass response and different voiced midrange. In the end it comes down to preference and being able to endure the wait time of getting a CCV is a HUGE factor of course. If you can hang back and wait it out, it is surely worth it and IMO you will have a superior tone.

Nick's Right...

I you want the best, and you're willing to make the commitment to wait, you will in the end be happy... IMO there is NOTHING like a CCV, and I have had, and have some of the best amps in the World.

Exactly.....some people here think a Fender Tweed is GOD TONE.....
I wouldnt use it prop open my door...

Now for me a good ripping amp that can do modern riffs along with some classic rock without flubbing out ..........
Is what I want from an ultimate amp.
Could care less if it could play chrystal clean pristine jazz chords..... ;)

But thats just my opinion. I still like the CCV over a SLO.
Chances of getting a CCV over a SLO are slim.....but who knows?
One might pop up and I might snag it!

I have seen it happen a couple times on here.
