Nick's Right...

I you want the best, and you're willing to make the commitment to wait, you will in the end be happy... IMO there is NOTHING like a CCV, and I have had, and have some of the best amps in the World.

Best,

Sound is a subjective thing and one man's "best" is another man's overated POS

Exactly, I would take a Wizard over both a SLO or CCV. If I played fast as hell speed lucifer worship type music then I would probably choose a CCV but then again, I like well built amps so maybe not.

What about Viking Goat Fuck Anal Cavity Gore Black Death styles? :D :scared:

I have read about those......

can they be modded?

Two very different amps. So expect mixed views.
For anyone commenting on the build quality of the CCV,
have you taken a look inside?? ;)
I had a CCV for a while and its a hella of am amp.
Amazing mids and feel.
But for me after a while with it the tone of the amp
didnt go with the music that I create. There was always
a 80's type modded Marshall tone that I could never get
away from it. This could have been addressed by Mark of
course but............. :dunno: :bleh:

Exactly, tone is subjective. Most people here buy and sell amps more than they change their underwear

I am curious... Where have you heard that the CCV build quality is bad or poor? Feel free to post links or any evidence supporting the poor build quality.

I can only speak for the ccv I own which is the first one ever made for a customer and the 4 others I've had in my possession, but every one I've had I've opened up to bias and the build quality has been very good. Military spec boards, quality Teflon coated wire, quality pots / tubes/ transformers, chassis , head shells. etc... Never heard of one breaking down either....It's all good though everyone is entitled to like what they like. Tone IS subjective and I'd put my ccv and Cameron modded plexi up against any amp out there for tone and reliability for ME, but that doesn't mean it will work great for everyone. Additionally I'd rather wait and only pay $2700 for an amp that has some character and punch then pay almost $5000!! for an amp that sounds like a plexi.... sorry guys I had to, respect though ...

Greg I used to own an SLO and have played a CCM. When I was at your house I heard you playing some crushing modern 7 string stuff. I'm not sure the SLO is ideal for that type of playing. The Cameron would probably be a little better for that style. If heavy modern stuff is what you're after I can't imagine a better amp than the Herbert you already have. That said... the Cameron and SLO are incredible designs and I would enjoy having either.

After hearing your Vintage Modern next to the CCM...Wow, what an eye opener. I was VERY suprised at which amp i greatly prefered.

you know i've heard a bunch of people say this, and im like blown away. So much so that i brought my ccv to work several times to compare. I have had like 6 vintage moderns at the shop. 50 watters, 100 watters, combo's and not 1 at any point ever got even close. With or without the boost in front. It just sounded thin to me, and buzzy. Never got it....no bottom end, no smoothness, no chimey mids... But again different strokes...

I thank all you for your input. I have decided to go with the ccv. I think it will be worth the wait. :2thumbsup:

I wanted to go with that but couldnt find any pics!

Or maybe this might be my BE ALL END ALL AMP..........

My friends......SAY HELLO TO THE ROLAND CUBE!!
Its like a CCV/ CCM / SLO and DUAL REC all in ONE AMP!!!

I think we need to have a cameron amp fest.....a refresher maybe yes? :D

H&H you should buy a SLO while you're waiting for the CCV.
then you choose to sell one or the other or keep both...

I have done that a few times in the past as well....
bought two amps KNOWING one was going to be sold off.
Or another good thing about it is that the SLO's hold the re-sale value pretty good so if you get one and need to sell it when the CCV gets about done or payment it due.....then you know it will sell fairly easily and it you preffer it over the CCV at that point then a SLO is pretty easy to get.
Just another option.

The Cameron is a beast and I would love to own one. The Vintage Modern with a boost out front is simply one of the best hard rock tones I've know of. Some folks don't like the VM and thats cool. It's not your job or my job to convince anyone of anything. If you have an amp you love then thats all that matters.

If we really want to get an expert opinion on this I guess we better try and get Doug Aldrich involved as he uses both I think. Seriously, Mark Cameron's amps are great. One day maybe I'll have the scrath to buy one. In the meantime I will enjoy my Marshall with an ear to ear grin.

I put $1800 down then waited 17 months for the amp, and I sold it for more then I paid for it, yes. But cash'd in because money talks? No.

I sold it because I didn't like it as much as the other amps I have/had, period.

I'm not Bill Gates, but if I thought an amp was amazing, better then the others I've had, you'd better believe I'd hold onto it regardless of cost/ profit. I've been through more amps then I can keep track of. As it is I sold the CCV and kept 6 or 8 other heads, because they were much better imo. That includes one of Marks modded Marshalls.

Getting a little extra profit after waiting all that time was nice, but I never would have sold the amp if I thought it was all that - I've no need to.

The SLO is the better amp IMO, and the Bogner Twin Jet crushes in that arena as well.
