That's too bad. Gibby's have a glorious smell when they're new. Like a cherry vanilla pipe tobacco smell. I LIKE it.

But it goes away if you leave it out. I hang my guitars on the wall...after a few weeks of this it'll be fine. You may want to burn some incents in that room...I like Nag Champa...fwiw.

I've got a Charvel that I bought 15 years ago. When I got it home and opened the case I got a big whiff of chocolate. Funny thing is, to this day, when I open the case it STILL smells like chocolate and the smell is just as strong as it was 15 years ago. I have to laugh because if someone else is around when I open the case they always comment that they smell chocolate and look in the case expecting to see a Hershey bar...

Ummm...chocolate!.

I bought a Wolfgang special from Ebay about four years ago and when I popped opened the case it smelled like a doobie ash tray! I sprayed the piss out of it with lysol, but that didn't work. I left the case open to air out. Finally doesn't smell anymore. My wife refers to it as the "Doobie" guitar.

I bought a USA Standard that was the same way!
It was soooo bad when I opened the case, I thought for sure I was gonna get nailed at the monthly company drug test.

I had the same problem with an R9.
Put some bounce dryer sheets in the case with the guitar the smell will go away.
