So, this was a weird, unexpected purchase. I had interest in an amp being sold here on a forum, but got back from being out of town a tad too late, and it got sold - it had me a bit bummed, so I went on Craigslist out of desperation for something new to play through (got rid of my Katana Artist recently).
One of the first things I see is this Allen Encore 2x12. This is something I remember GASing over YEARS ago, and had totally forgotten about them. The second I saw it I emailed the guy, and he called me back in under 5 minutes. 30 minutes later, I was picking it up, and here it sits!
Really, there are no words to describe how amazing this thing is. On top of everything else, the dude had it loaded within the last year with all NOS tubes and a new reverb tank.
The Raw knob, which I didn't know much about before this, is fascinating. Rolled all the way off, and it's very much a Blackface style amp. With it at 3-4, it adds a lot of girth to my S-500. Everything above that, and it reminds me a lot of a Tweed, but still its own thing.
I'll report back more once I have some extra time to play it. I've had it for less than an hour.
