Being a recently-joined member here, I have only what I've observed since I started visiting here to judge this site by. But I gotta say... this place feels SO much "homier" than most of the other web forums that I've been a member of over the years. I come "home", kick-off my shoes, put my feet up and relax, enjoy, learn, and share. Just like I do at home. I can fart, watch "Manswers" if I want to, and playfully slap the wifey on the behind. Maybe your big brother slaps you upside the head once in a while, but you had it coming for a while so it's cool.
In comparison, TGP was a freakin' museum or library, maybe even church! Some neat things there, but cold, sterile, strict and uptight. Step out of line or even push the boundaries a bit and you're put in the stocks.
HC-type forums were like a zoo or a circus, or Bangkok. Mad Max beyond Thunderdome!
I'm impressed by Brad and the moderators here. All seem to be easy-going, laid-back doods who'd rather not play the heavy. I really like this place!
P.S. I have NEVER been banned or given a time-out from an internet forum since I've been an active participant in them (since the early days of the internet in the mid-late 90s). I speak my mind, but always try to follow the rules. But like many, as there are changes in me or changes in the directions that the winds blow on forums, I eventually drift away and find new "homes". This place is one of the more well-run and "cool" forums that I've ever been on.
