Man... I have to say I am sold. The V3 sounds better then any recto. Modern and different tones.
Legacy I loved and plan to get, OD in front of clean channel is like another channel. Then the vintage VT50 kicked ASS. If these things had another boutique name on them people would be yapping about them. thoroughly impressed.

I had a V3 for a while and for $850 and a full 30 day no questions asked return option it was a great amp. Problem was channel two stopped working and I started to think you get what you pay for and sent it back. I was really digging it though and it did have some balls to it. I would probabaly grab one on the used market for the right price.

I was a bit let down by the V3, but am a big fan of their guitars. Better than Paul Reed S*** imho.

I've rocked the legacy now for almost 2 years. It is such a great amp for the moola

I wish I could just 'walk' into a Carvin Dealer. That is one of the issues.

The V3 is reported to sound good in the room, but not record well.
Only heard clips of the V3.

Just an observation but why do you bring up PRS in every single Carvin thread? Me...I've yet to play a Carvin I've liked.

i want one of the early voodoo models so bad for its clean channel. i had the chance to play one at this years vintage guitar show. it was so prestine and spanky - ala jason becker/marty friedman jam sessions you see on youtube. i couldnt stop playing it!

carvins are well kept secrets :D

I don't understand the hostility towards PRS either... My Custom 24 is seriously good. But oh well...

I have been to that store on Sunset... Lovely little place isn't it? I bought an acoustic from there, and I really regret selling it. It was so good!

v3 and me didnt get along, in fact hated it.

legacy was much more to my liking.

I think the hostility toward PRS is the elitism than can come with it's ownership. Try telling one of those sort of PRS owner that a Carvin matches or exceeds it and things can get ugly.

And the first Legacy is way better on the lead channel. Got a different mid thing goin on. Ive seen too many burnt boards to buy another carvin though.

Gotcha  Yeah, Elitism is an ugly thing.

Had a Legacy and loved it. Had the V3 and hated it with everything I had in me. Easily my "worst ever" amp.

That happens in every other thread on the Carvin BBS. I used to hang there alot back when I had 4-5 of 'em. Excellent guitars but talk about fan-boys. Sheesh. Not talking about chunktone here. Just the guys I used to know on the Carvin boards.

I have noticed this from the few PRS owners I have met. I haven't met many though, so I was hoping it was the exception.

I do really like my buddy's 80's Carvin electric, his new one is kind of meh, just doesn't feel the same.

Not with Me.. I have a couple of PRS 24's, and My Carvin is my most special guitar!

It just takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. You get just one or two raving PRS guys and suddenly they're all corksniffing douchenozzles.

Nice.

By the by, I'm in no way insinuating all PRS guys are like that, just a few leave their mark.

I'm not hostile toward PRS, I use them to illustrate the quality of Carvin. If I'm hostile toward any brand it would be Gibson. I was affiliated with them, and severed ties with them over their poor fret leveling issues they had prior to using PLEK.

I have played many PRS's, and really want to like them because they are beautiful guitars, but I have been let down every time.
