So I walked in a Carvin dealer on sunset..

I love my Carvin guitar but I also went through 3 Carvin Powered mixers before I got a good one earlier this year, one of which damn near caught fire.

didn't like the V3 much, wasn't my thing. I am curious about the legacy II though.

I was a bit let down by the V3, but am a big fan of their guitars. Better than Paul Reed S*** imho.

Just an observation but why do you bring up PRS in every single Carvin thread? Me...I've yet to play a Carvin I've liked.
I'm not hostile toward PRS, I use them to illustrate the quality of Carvin. If I'm hostile toward any brand it would be Gibson. I was affiliated with them, and severed ties with them over their poor fret leveling issues they had prior to using PLEK.

I have played many PRS's, and really want to like them because they are beautiful guitars, but I have been let down every time.

WHAT WHAT??? PRS POLICE here!!!!!!

what's this carvin better than PRS shit  Yeah right

Maybe better than a SE model

Every PRS I've ever owned played flawless out of the box

It just takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. You get just one or two raving PRS guys and suddenly they're all corksniffing douchenozzles.

Then you show them THIS!

I don't understand the hostility towards PRS either... My Custom 24 is seriously good. But oh well...

I have been to that store on Sunset... Lovely little place isn't it? I bought an acoustic from there, and I really regret selling it. It was so good!

Some people just like to bash the things they don't like over and over.

I have never played a PRS. Probably because they cost too much.

$1500 used ...CE models are cool also $850 used

not too much  The PRS copy Carvin's pictured above cost that

I disagree on the V3 sounding better than rectos, but the Legacy and MTS sound phenomenal for the $. I really love their guitars too. They are better than most guitars I've played costing twice as much.

i had a student who ordered a carvin, i forget the exact model but it was a neck through design. the finish was beautiful, the neck felt great, and it sounded clear as a bell. very natural. i really liked it and would love to own one someday, i just have to take the leap of faith and hope it comes out exactly as i envision.

+1. I've owned a couple and they sound like the finish is a foot thick.

That CT will be close to $1500 brand new, probably around $1000 used. What would the comparable PRS cost new? Over $2k?

A comparable PRS custom 22, unless you have the hook up would run you a tad over 3K new. The Carvin Cali carve tops are the best bang for the buck for such a prety guitar at $1,500 or so new it's not a bad deal and their also made in the U.S. The only thing that sucks is they just don't hold their value and I don't really care for their pups ether. The Quilting on that blue Carve top is simply stunning...

I just think the Custom 24 is probably the most complete guitar around. Maybe there are better deals, and better for certain styles.
But how many guitars do you know that can cover Les Paul and Strat and Tele realm? I didn't say identical, but it will get you really close.
