And once again I wasn't there!!!!   He called beforehand and said "I'll be there in thirty minutes" as he wanted to sell us his Budda Superdrive 80 II. But....... I had to leave and pick up the kids from martial arts. There was no getting around it.

So Jay got to hang around with George and his daughter for a little while again and we bought the Budda that he supposedly used on parts of the last Lynch Mob record according to Jerry, George's tech and a friend of ours. Now we all know George is a bit of an amp whore. He'd fit in here well. :D So I didn't pay anymore for the amp than I would have from Joe Blow off the street because him "using" it on the last Lynch Mob record might have meant he used it as a coaster or something to sit on while cutting tracks with another amp.

Anyway though the amp sounds great. I really dig it but I can't possibly bring home another amp.

How much you selling the Budda for...... :gethim:
I am sure some Amp whore (ME) would love to snag it.....

Better get the hot sheet from the local pawn shops and check the serial number

What's he doing in Orange County anyways? I thought he lives out in Arizona?

Did he buy anything yet?

George doesn't buy gear, it gathers itself around his gravitational force.

'he was probably using it for a coaster or something'
lol

Another casualty in the wake of Lynches amp-go-round antics.

There is a whole process we have to go through on buying used gear out here that involves serial numbers and the sellers drivers license info and such. You'd be surprised how many people head for their cars when we ask them for their drivers license before buying a used piece of gear.

George has lived in So Cal again for probably the last 5-6 years. His tech/website guru/buddy Jerry works very close to our shop here and George hangs out with him sometimes.

George has bought some stuff from us in the past. He bought a JCM800 head from me that I believe we sent to Suhr for him for mods some time ago and he also has tried buying my vintage Orange cabinets from me a couple of times too. Sorry George or anyone else... they are not for sale. Let's just say I've had them for a very long time and they were old when I bought them.

When it comes down to it George is about exactly the same as many of us here. Tormented by the tone chase. Except to many (most) hard rock guys he is in the all time top 5 favorite/coolest players. And how many of us wouldn't take free gear from companies and favors and extra special deals in order to try and realize that perfect tone in our heads? And when we realized that a particular piece of gear wasn't it we'd sell it to continue the chase.

I personally know of a couple of companies that have flat out given George gear in the HOPES that it will become a favorite of his in exchange for a simple photo of him with the gear. Not an endorsement. Not George approaching them, but them willing to eat the cost of one of their items on the chance that it will be IT for George.

That is a futile pursuit. As any gear whore knows, there will never be an "it" just a "right now" guitar/amp/rig, etc...

You posted that pic again for my wife didn't ya?

Good man......." But babe the guitar is from that cute guy in Cali...."

Regards, pretty cool George popping in at the store several times.

did you smell the amp yet?

Duh. I smell all the used gear we buy. One sniff can tell 1,000 stories. :D

To be honest we have turned down TONS of gear over the years because some cat has sprayed it. We learned from experience you cannot clean that off of an amp completely and the whole time it's in the shop you catch whiffs of it at weird times and sometimes you aren't even right by it.

Sometimes a cat sprayed piece will make it in if one of us has a cold and the other isn't there. We clean it up the best we can and blow it out and tell the people why we're blowing it out. :D

I beleive George and Gerry still have Georges (Metro) purple 68 spec 100 watter. !!!! hmm. I almost got Gerry to get one of mine in front of Goerge but he bought a Friedman. Oh well. I would have wanted actual cash anyways.

2011 Stangs? Is the 413 the hp or did you forget to put a zero on the end and you were quoting me the weight? :D
I have been on the track several times with several hot Mustangs and other muscle cars (not counting the new Vettes ) and because I can start braking about 300 yards later than them or sneak under them through corners it becomes the classic battle of trying to stay ahead of them on the straights while they try and stay on the track in the corners and stop before they go off into the desert. Good fun.

Stop watching Grand Am Racing Scott. Those aren't real Ford Mustangs. But they are racing against real, buy them from the dealer Porsche 911's and BMW M3's. Fair? LOL, by the time the Mustang is built to be competitive it costs over $100k more than the M3 or the 911.

So how did we get this off topic? Don't you have a driveway to shovel? You will sooooooooon!!!!!!!

You Al Pacino'd my thread after less than one page? I can't believe you ruined one of the most on topic, relevant and informative threads in the history of Rig Talk. :gethim:
