SHAZAM!!!!!

Yup, some 3000s, SDEs, Ranes, and stuff I have no idea what it is.

Thanks for the pic!

No problem. Glad you know what some of it is, cuz I wouldn't have the foggiest.

This is the 7 string I am talking about, according to his site it should be in there somewhere,

yeah, it looks like I got a shot of it hanging with a bunch of other guitars on the wall...but no real close ups....just the outer bout.

Very cool...NICE! Love Vai even when he does the Girly Man routine. :)

I might be wrong, but I think there are a couple Furman power conditioners in those racks... That's about all I recognize (which is a testament to my rack knowledge)

That must have been a really fun interview. Sounds like Vai is a cool dude.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I have the exact same set-up as VAI...if you only count the power conditioner!

Cool pic and thanks for the post!

Did he hump this guitar too? Is that why it brought back some special memories for him?  Just kidding! That must have been a very cool experience sitting across from Steve, with him dressed like a normal Joe. That is also very refreshing to hear that he plays what he endorses. Many players should take a lesson from him on that.

Oh my God, That is beyond cool. I am very jealous :D :D I would have given both nuts to spend an hour in there! Would love to read the interview - Jim

I'd love to just chat with him

he seems like a really cool, humble guy

It was very cool. While I don't play like Vai, or in that shredder style for that matter, the guy has been an inspiration to me....the discipline it takes to master so many techniques, transcribing, etc....When I hear that from a player, it makes me realize I need to focus more on my techniques, stage presence, etc...

As far as using the gear that he endorses, he told me that what he didn't want was for kids to be browsing through magazines and see his face plastered all over a different piece of gear every few months....changing brands like pants...."gear whore" was the term he used to describe an individual like that. Carvin, Ibanez, etc....was gear that he had worked with them to get the sounds/playability that he wanted and needed to make him happy....why fuck with something that works.

What really struck me, was his humility that he had achieved the success he had....there wasn't any "rockstar" or "LA" attitude that I've run into before. He was very quick to point out the people who had helped him along the way.

Very cool!! Congrats on the interview man

Awesome pic of the rack gear... I spot a Tri Stereo Chorus :inlove:

I have to respond to this.................

HOLY SHIT YOU WERE IN THE HARMONY HUT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Please post the still shots of the rack gear if possible, I am thinking Eventide and Roland SDE-3000s out the ass were there  I am wondering if the "For the Love of God" 7 stringer was still in there.........love to get my pic taken with that one.

I would have been begging for Steve to break it out and dime it with that bank of 3000s and Lexicons!!!!!!!!

There were a couple 7 stringers in there, but I don't know which one you mean. I'll dig around later for any shots that might apply. Here's a shot of the rack gear....I'll let you experts decide what it is....sorry, no real close ups.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ!

Man, that would be so cool to sit down with a true guitar hero like that.

One a side note, the Legacy is a good sounding amp and any great player would get top notch sounds out of it. May all the Dumble drones drones choke on their own arrogance. :D

The LA2's are pretty much the only thing that is super cool in the rack...It is a lot of stuff, but it is not like you are seeing some old pultecs or Neve preamps.

So you don't like the AMS RMX16, Audio & Design Compex F760, DynoMyPiano Tri-Stereo chorus, Lexicon 300, Neve 33609 compressor, silverface 1176/1178, Smart C2 etc. I'd say that's already roughly $30K+ of pretty cool mixing gear... The Neve 33609 alone is worth $5K. :)

Yeah...I like anything Neve! The 1176s are cool...not a necessity. but I have heard pultec eqs with some old telfunkens in them and man...those can make a mix!

Thanks, I did pick out the TC Electronic stuff and most of the Eventide stuff but I am a n00b when it comes to pre's. The H969 shows up now and then on Ebay and they dont go for too much. I almost bought an H3000 that came out of Zappa's studio, was outbid by $40
