So the Jet City webpage says the JCA22h is available

There are already at least 2 nice videos in YT made by FastRedPonyCar.

Looks like it will be perfect replacement for my JCA20H :D

Dunno--after seeing Drew's clips I'm not sure it NEEDS modding...
 
I'm probably going to get one to play with, but I have a feeling it won't stay stock too long. :D That circuit is certainly not bad, but there are lots of ways you can go to make it better depending on the genre you're going for.

Correct--not sure everyone has the amps straight. The 22H has the Soldano Overdrive channel and an effects loop. The 20H is single-channel and no FX loop. I can see where people feel the need to mod the 20H, but I'm thinking the 22H is not going to need mods.

for me the 20 is a no go without a loop, and the modders are charging too much to add a loop.

the 22 has got me interested now. :rock:
 
My guess is the 22H is the same as the 50 and 100 watt models. The difference in modding won't be as drastic as the 20H but there are plenty of cool things that can be done. I charge 50 bucks to install a Metro loop regardless of the amp...that's pretty damn cheap.

Now that is completely reasonable, IMO.

I can't wait to hear what you can do with the 22H Brian. If you can do a high gain Marshall sound, and a nice clean channel to this thing, I will be in line for one as soon as I can be.

I really wasn't digging the sounds from the clip above. The clean channel sounded alright with a little break up, but the actual clean sounds were really "flat" sounding to me. Nothing really interesting going on. As far as the gain channel goes, it's OK, but didn't grab me. Much like the clean sounds, it sounded dull and washed out IMO. It's not a bad sound at all, but didn't grab me at all. Perhaps some more clips will change my mind. I am optimistic at this point.

I bought one modded by Friedman...then modded the hell out of it some more. I liked it so much I bought a stock one used for cheap. After playing the stock version, I'm not sure why people buy them. They sound crappy stock :lol: :LOL: My modded one crushes the stock version both in cleans and high gain. ;)

Hey Dave, what did you do to yours to make it what it is today?

Did you add another tube stage or was it just internal tweaks?
 
The EL84 vs. 6L6 has a LOT to do with the difference in the overdrive characteristic. That said, I've always loved the EL84 greasy overdrive, so I think I'm gonna be happy.
