JCM 800. I have two, an original 2203 from 1987 and a 2203X. The original is louder and ballsier, but the reissue has the same great tone plus an effects loop.

I can go from a decent "Marshall" clean (not bad with a bit of chorus) to full-on metal brutality and everything in between. All with a couple of inexpensive boost/OD pedals.

I would love to try a JMP though. Just haven't had the opportunity.

What's your Marshall flavor.

Super Lead - First Marshall I owned. That and a Fender Twin was my rig for years. The voice is one of the best.

This again.

If you can crank it, that thing rocks!

I'm beginning to realize this with most Marshall amps I check out, with the exception of the VM. IMO, that thing sound good at all volumes

For rock= cranked up 2203 properly biased with good tubes

For metal= SLX properly biased with good tubes

Marshall superbass '79, I feel sick everytime I think about when I had to sell that amp

Either one of these, preference to the smallbox at the moment but both rock.

??? Love the VM, DSL 2203X and the 1959HW. As long as I was able to play them at a loud volume I could live with any of them. But because volume is an issue for me the VM and DSL are better bets.

my '69 Plexi 100....been thru alot of Marshalls and this is the best one I've found.

My fav. at the moment, believe it or not, is my JVM. Been tweaking it for a few weeks now, its getting better and better. Its only very slightly ahead of my Langner, and that may change after the honeymoon. I also love my 800, and my DSL, and my JMP, Its kinda hard to pick one. They all have thier own stuff they add to the mix. If I could only have one, And I dont own one at the moment, and I did not need extensive channel switching, it would be a pre 70's superlead.

" Any Cameron modded marshall will do" I'm with that! +1  But if we are talking marshall for marshall alone, then I have a 1968 plexi 100 watter that is incredible, and for recent stuff, I have a DSL-100 and a Slash jubilee that just piss on every other marshall I have heard for the last 5 years. This particular DSL-100 and Slash jubilee have built in MAGIC! ;) I have sent many Marshalls away after they failed to better these three. I would love to find a good Jcm-800 with the Mojo.

For me my modded DSL. My favorite stock Marshall would be the JVM followed by the 2210. I'm not really a fan of anything before the 800 because they all just seem too spongy for me.
