Love the riffage and the sweeet tone. Awesome stuff.

Can I ask what you are using for drums though?

I do think it's some of the clearest sounding rhythm tracks I've recorded. More time with this thing is just going to make it better.

I was actually gonna come in here and say that.  I really want a Kemper... Nice job, Bob! How does it "feel" when playing leads? I could never jive with the AxeFx when doing leads for whatever reason, and I hear the Kemper is better in that department.

Sounded awesome! I'm thinking more and more of having an Axe/Kemper every time I hear clips.

Really dug the arrangement.

I love tube amps but think modelers are at a point where they are more than usable, in fact sound fantastic. Was listening to some of the amp factory profiles and am blown away at the variety of great available.

A guy that goes by killzone at GAB posts drum jams occasionally. Got them there.

No problems with feel on my part. Everyone is different though, but what I would say is don't dwell on it. Not saying this is you but I think a lot of people who end up complaining about the feel go into it concerned about it and then obsess about it to the point they're feeling something that doesn't exist. Obviously some are going to be more sensitive to it and I think I'm possibly more flexible when it comes to different feeling amps, but so far nothing about the feel hinders or bothers me.

I was gonna say the drums sound kinda thin, especially with the guitar tones being fucking massive as mentioned, you should pick up a copy of superior drummer and then get a bunch of the groove midi packs, its drag and drop heaven and superior drummer with metal foundry or some of the other expansions sound HUGE with very little tweaking needed.

Of course it sounded good, you're Bob Fricken' Savage. What really rocked was the riffage. Another part or two and you'll have the makings of a cool song.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, they're metal drums. I actually fattened them up with a channel EQ.

I'll have to look into Superior. I'm using Logic Pro X which has some decent stuff that's built in. My real goal is to just sketch ideas to drum tracks that are in the ballpark and send them off to a drummer to record his kit. I'm looking for whatever I can to improve workflow though and the closer what I put together is the better, so it's worth looking into.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Thanks man, appreciate it.

Sounds good on the tone and the tune Bob. Seems like the workflow aspect would be quite abit quicker than messing with mic-ing and such.... The ability to call up different tones quickly must be nice.

….and Superior Drummer is pretty nice to work with. I've been messing with it the past couple months now. Pretty cool.

Bob, the clip sounds great!!

The longer you play the Kemper the more "feel" you will experience. The Kemper offers me two things I like:
1. I have 5-6 go-to rigs that are my sound. I tweaked them and they are my rig. They sound perfect for me, I am able to quickly adjust for any room/pa eq issues without sacrificing tone.
2. When I want to, I can play in tweaker hell, messing with different rigs and combinations of.

About a year ago I bought a 1975 MXR Phase 90 and really liked what it sounded like in front of the BE-100. A while ago someone on the Kemper forum posted a bunch of phase 90 patches, I installed them and with some tweaking I am almost there. Once I nail that, I will be set for my live rig.

Glad you enjoy the Kemper!

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to being able to not only whip out different tones quickly, but getting them recorded just as quickly without micing or room hassles.

Yeah, I suspect I'll have about that many rigs that I go to on a regular basis too.

If you buy superior and some preset packs and learn how to use em, there's midi files everywhere that can be dragged and dropped and edited. You won't need the studio drummer haha. If you need any help with SD PM me any time, I could also send you a ton of midi grooves free of charge, I am more than happy to help :)

That sounds awesome - I enjoyed the heck out of that! Super cool riffing

Great work! I gotta say though, hearing "ya gotta sort through this or dig through that" is why i dumped the axe. I get lost in the tweaking and forget to play.

Greatly appreciated! I'll do some research. If it will improve workflow I'll definitely buy it. Bottom line, I'm only buying gear that enables me to compose and record. If it's a hinderance to THE MUSIC happening, it's out regardless of how good something sounds. One thing is for sure though, the drummer I have lined up can lay far better tracks than anything I can throw grooves down for. I'm still a fan of real drummers/percussionists whenever possible.

I spent about 10 minutes, which was basically wasted time just rolling through the presets to see what the first ones sounded like and realizing they're just listed alphabetically, found the profile list, decided on the KM-THRASH profile, spent 15 minutes playing through it while tweaking and recorded this clip. I'm totally OK with 15 minutes of tweaking, plus now it's dialed in already if I want to use it again.

playing is great but i liked your deliverance tone more.

on earbuds it has a slightly weird stereo phase thing and an attack that i can only describe as compressed or maybe latent? it doesn't have that direct attack like a 57 on a cone thing

lance posted a clip using his kemper and i heard the same phenomenon on his clip as well.

now what i *could* imagine to be a truly massive sound is layering this with your mic'ed deliverance, but i understand the beauty of just the kemper's ease of setup/recording too.

I have been hovering around the idea of buying a Kemper or an Axefx and videos like this are certainly pushing me into buying one or both. Excellent tone!!
