There are some incredibly "technical" (not sure if you're talking theory, mechanics, both...) who hang here. Mark (billybogner), Curt (chubtone), Ed Degenaro, Ralph (gainfreak), Lance-A-Not... and there's more. Every one of them brings something different to the table too which makes them fun to listen to.

I like your list but When I think Technical, my list would be as such;

Ed D
Ralphie
Harry
John Perry
Lance a Not

While Curt and Mark are outstanding monster players, They dont come across as Technical to me. As you pointed out, it all depends on what parameters you use to define technical...

The cool thing about the guys that I mentioned is that theyre all technically gifted but musical at the same time and that what makes them so cool IMO.

Doesn't "oustanding monster player" = "most technically skilled"?

Trust me. Curt has every bit as much technical ability (I'm talking about off the charts chops) and musicality as anyone you mentioned. I've seen him play in person and he has phenomenal chops in addition to having great melodic sense.

Everything I've heard from Mark gives me the same feeling as what I said about Curt, except I haven't seen him play in person...

Based on everything I've seen and heard, these guys are every bit as good from a technique standpoint as the other guys you mentioned...

IMHO, of course...

the only person i can really renember is ralph (gainfreak) so im gonna go with him, cuz i can't renember anyone else. sorry.

I don't know any King Diamond songs so I was immediately disqualified. Does it count if I've seen him live?

it counts against you cause it just makes me jealous.

especially if you saw him <1991

Dang...... thanks for mentioning me guys! sah5150 and Bob, thanks guys! And Kage.... no problem from me with you removing me from your "Technical" list and putting me on a list with Mark. Put me on any list with Mark and I'm :D

My band opened for King Diamond in '86... I can tell you it was pretty weird backstage with "The King"... He appears (at least then) to be "in character" at all times...

Nah Steve, I can't machine gun pick like Ronni Le Tekro so I'm immediately off Kage's list for technical.  And playing Steve's candy-striped Kramer will allow anyone to play better than they normally can. That thing rules.

I think to a lot of people "technical" means very right hand oriented. I always practiced my picking like a maniac. Hours and hours and hours with a metronome and picking exercises and sequences, year after year. I never wanted to be a left handed, legato sounding guy so I always stayed away from it, but that just came so easy for me I finally said "screw it" and let my left hand loose. My picking hand is just average unless I'm really warmed up.

Hmmmmmm Tough one. Tons of great players on this forum. bstaley can play just about anything he puts his mind to. Ralph has great feel to his vibrato and I like his phrasing. Lance is pretty wild. George is capable of some serious playing... Ah man it's just to tough to say. I could mention about 30 guys here that just burn.

That is fucking awesome

I'm jealous, but have mega respect at the same time.

King is probably my favorite after GWAR.
