Forgot how cheap these were! Picked up a 6505 recently for ~600. Great amps for the price

I wish I still had all the original tubes... WAIT! I do... well power tubes anyway. Lost or broke most of the original preamp tubes. :aww:

I wouldnt mind snagging another one. I had both the original 5150 and a 6505+.
Great amps but I was in the "amp flipping" stage when I had them.
Fire sale......EVERYTHING MUST GO!!
I remember really digging it though.

I saw a 5150 head on my local Craigslist not too long ago for $450. Would have been cool to grab but didn't need and didn't have the extra cash.

Haha wow, do those still work?

had a combo that i got on ebay for $475, loved the sound- hated the weight. so i chopped the motherfucker in half!

yep, did the 5150 combo to head mod (search google for full instructions), but ultimately i had to realize, after 3 5150s all together, that it's just not for me. i like the idea of OWNING a 5150 but i just don't get along with it...i need options.

traded it for a Line 6 HD147 head and for once in my life I am ready to stick with an amp for a long time. not bashing the 5150 because if I could have one right now I would sure as hell just leave it in my music room here at home.

long live the 5150

Friend brought one over so I could install a choke.
Holy fuckin rip your face off. What a great sounding amp for the money.

i've had this amplifier since 2005. still my main gigging/recording/practice amplifier today. still remember buying it as well.

i will never part with this amp. ill sell everything else before this one goes :)

now.. if someone wanted to trade for an ENGL savage or invader thats a different story

I've been giggin mine for the last year, was using a quickrod (2 seperate ones actually)for about a year before that. I dig the 5150 more  And thats in more of a hardrock context than straight metal.

I do wish the cleans were better though.

  They worked great last time I used them, maybe they don't. They've been in a box for 10 years.
