So I saw Soilwork tonight and they were using amps by a company called Elmwood. I haven't ever heard of these amps until tonight. They sounded pretty good. A little fizzy I would say, but good none the less. They played stuff from all the cds from "A Predators Portrait" and up. Would have been cool to hear some even older stuff but either way it was a good show. Their drummer is phenominal.

A little fizzy? Dude...get with the program! Elmwoods are damn fine! I wouldn't say fizzy at all, unless maybe soilwork used some kind on overdrive that made them fizzy like a stock SD-1.

Elmwoods are built in Tanums Hede, which isn`t too far away from their home town :)

Considering Peter and Ola aren't even in the band anymore, they should just quit. But regarding the Elmwoods, you can see one in the studio vid that came with the CD, along with a Savage 120.

LOL   exactly what i thought!

Elmwood's are damned clean sounding amps! i haven't been through a bunch of high dollar amps, but the Elmwood is a step above the average + or - $2000 range amps like Marshall, Mesa, VHT, etc. etc. for amp produced noise. really beleave Elmwood has some top notch parts in them!

I mean I understand that they are high end amps and what not. I didnt say that the amp itself was necessarily fizzy. I was at a live show and not standing in front of the actual amp. The sound guy probably had a lot to do with why they sounded the way they did. I was just trying to get some background info on the amps bc I had never heard of them before.

They're ridiculously expensive. They're not really the first amp I'd choose for playing modern metal tuned to B though.

Elmwoods rock. I've had them on my mind ever since I played the Modena 60. And tuned to B for heavy stuff, it definitely help up when I was playing through it.

Yeah they didnt really seem like my cup of tea either. I think I am just gonna stay the Engl and Mesa route myself. Hows life been Mark? Haven't spoke with ya in a while.

It seems like the new models are more directed to the medium gain crowd. The original Elmwood 3100 supposedly had a third channel that could rival Rectos etc.
