Yes ?
Had heard that's why sales were sluggish last 25 years.
I seem to remember being able to snag a used SLO for $2500 in the 1990's.

2002'ish I found one that had belonged to Duff McKagan for $1500 at Trade Up Music in Portland.....headshell was a bit rough, they didn't / couldn't sell it for a couple months before I stumbled in there. I wasn't a big fan of the amp then, turned it onto JDub who promptly bought it and flipped it. Best SLO deal I've ever heard of.

I remember vividly: musicians friends magaszines around 99-2000, SLO’s were 2599 or 2699 new. I remember because as a kid I couldn’t believe how expensive an amp was, and how it just destroyed everything else price wise.

I could swear i remember the price of a JCM 2000 DSL from MF being something like $2K for years because i used to drool about getting one but couldn't afford it.

i was too much of a boogie guy to totally fall for the SLO but i love some of the tones others get with that amp. my experience was in order for the tone begin to fatten up enough for the feel to be right, the volume was already too loud to be practical for my use.

Ive heard that many times from owners.
The Master starts to bloom on "6" or something.
Ive also heard alot that the SLO is an amp that's very easy to "not dial in" correctly also speaker choice is huge.

The last MSRP I remember being advertised was $4,400. I'm surprised Mike didn't charge more. The property taxes for his 3-story building had to have been 100% retarded towards the end. Fricking Seattle.

They were, but you were seeing the price for the full stack, not just the head. I remember those same ads, I think a TSL or DSL full stack was about 2099 or something during this time, that’s probably what you remember I’m guessing.

i have a few musicians friend from the 90s ill have to dig up and see what was going on

I used to get MF/Guitar Player/AMS/Golf Digest [still get AMS] catalogs i had so many when we moved years ago i had 1000 lbs of magazines. Was one of the hardest things to get rid of. Never doing that again.

it would literally be a tiring all day affair if i had to get my walk in closet full of magazines out lol. there is no real easy way to do it.

I remember getting 2 of them in 1991 for around 2.5 each new from a store in San Diego.

Guitar Trader?
Don't remember. A guy at one store who was able to get me a Killer Pirate guitar sent me to a friend of his at another store to try the SLO. At the time I had a huge rack full of preamps, effects and a power amp. Loved the SLO right away, but it had to be loud. So the rack stayed home and the SLOs went to jam sessions. But very few people in the Navy were into thrash so I didn't get to jam with others much.

They definitely were ahead of their time in terms of sound, boutique market, and giant accompanying price tag. I own a rack slo and it is insanely fucking loud. I will say I think the slo-100 is harder to accurately capture while tracking. A 2203 seems to convey more accurately (more easily) by comparison. I never quite figured out why.
