Solo boost

Hello, I have a Quickrod amp and really like first gear with a tube screamer out front. For solos, I was using the “solo” button on the foot switch, but I believe that uses gear 2 or 3 . Does anyone use an eq in the loop to boost for leads in first gear?

I saw your post over on the proboards. Glad you found your way over here, although it looks like you've been a member forever. Where do you normally post? Anyway, I don't use the solo boost and I didn't know it used a different gear. I have an EQ in the loop and it is always on. I also have volume 'dial' in the loop of my 2008 QR. For boosts I use a Bad Monkey and SD-1 from time to time but have doing more without a boost. I've also tried the Koko, Pepers, MXR stuff, etc etc.

Seems like you are trying to accomplish something?

I don't believe the solo boost changes gears. I have a 50 watt super sport and it only has 2 gears and the solo boost works in both of them, What is does do is engage OD 2 and give you a volume boost (that is if you keep the volume on the front of the head below 10:00 o'clock. the higher you turn up the "volume" the lees of a volume boost you'll get but you still get OD 2. For Upfront I use the Fractal FX8 and usually run the "Love pedal" or the SD-1 in front of mine. I ususally run my gain at around 10:30-11:00 and hit the pedal if I want more 'saturation without any bass "boom" that this amp gets
