Hi

Now that i am back, and playing and recording again, messing around, i have a few questions about Solo'ing over chord progressions.

Say i have POWER CHORDS E, C, D

WHat scales can i play over this? sorry dont mean scales as in dorian or locrian. Im talking about what NOTES to start my scales on. for example, E Aolien or A Aolien could i use B Aolien?

So take this one... A,F,G

I could use E Aolien and A Aolien. is that right? i say A and E because A is the root note and E is the 5th. ANythin else?

I know i can use alot of different scales that could fit. But what are the MAIN ones if thats possible to ask.

Solo's that i like are mostly Maiden'ish style if that helps.

Thanks.

Let me know if my post makes no sense, its hard to explain but im sure theres some simple rules i should know to make life a little easier when soloing over chord progressions

Like could use Root Postions Scales or 5th Postion Scales as a rule. <--if thats even right

Assuming we're talking about stuff that will across the progression...white bread as it may be...
Power chords E-C-D imply either Em-C-Dm, that be E phrygian, or Em-C-D which would make it aeolian.
For your A-F-G it'd be Am-F-G, A aeolian.

Cool, thanks for that. Something to tryout.

What about soling over A-F-G with ... say E Aolien (or E something), can you tell me about that?
