I need to learn CAGED

It all connects 🤷

You get to pick how much of everything and eventually it becomes your map of the fretboard
Ya but everthing you need to know is in the modes . And then you can switch keys and play over any chord change . Literally the modes has everthing . CAGED is very limited

Sometimes less is more. I notice some people sound like they are just playing scales.
But that’s just not the case . Modes are so easy it’s not fair . It really does take care of it all . The problem is books and a lot of teachers say hear memorize and that’s it . It’s so easy to understand if a teacher teaches it right . Is super easy . I’m retarded so abyone can do it lol
I am retarded lol

I can see the usefulness but remember the music is the space between the notes.

I concur, this man is retarded.

That is true, and there are guys capable of making their guitars sing by leaving space in between the notes. Then you have another bunch of guys who take joy and find happiness in blazing up and down the fretboard, whether or not they ever record a song, touch someone's soul, or play a single show. I'm more of the latter lol

But do

you know where the space between the notes are ? It’s easier to be simple still when knowing . But I know what you mean

You called yourself retarded twice so it's cancelled out. Unless calling yourself that twice doubles the retardation aspect. I'm not sure because I'm semi-retarded

Maybe it’s Beetlegeuse or Candyman thing, culminating in a Simple Jack?

There is plenty of memorization for the modes, and not a lot of info, lessons, and breakdown of using the modes that way though.

So if someone wants to learn it that way, basically they have to take lessons from you tech, lol

There's a reason people use both CAGED, 3NPS, etc all the different ways

They are all useful - if you get the most use out of modes, then that works best for you

Never used CAGED before, sounds like some made up influencer stuff. Lemme get my safety glasses.

I was drilled on triads maj/min/dim/aug up and down the neck on each set of 3 strings, through the cycle of fifths. Then I can make any chord I want just by adding the color tone to that triad.

You already know CAGED then, if you know all your triads, diads and fifths

Yeah but a lot of it can be dispensed with IMO depending on what music you are geared for. I don't need to have Augmented triads up and down the neck at the tip of my fingers to play blues but it's helpful to know them for chord construction purposes if you are going deep into jazz or fusion. Everything iin my world is dom7 so that's mostly where my focus is, 7ths, 9ths, 13ths. Sliding 9ths are the power chord of the blues world, lol

Truthfully if you just know your chromatic scales up and down the neck plus the basics of chord construction you can basically make anything you want, it'll just be faster if you've memorized all the patterns. I find my "pentatonic" has begun to include many more notes than I was initially given thanks to passing and chord tones right underneath your fingers within those stock basic patterns.

finally something I can relate to in this thread.

That works fine for blues or jazz or tan pants music, but that method is not going to work for most of the music people wanna make on RT :hys:

People have to focus on different aspects of it to accomplish what they want to accomplish musically, and everyone assumes that their way is the best or only way because it's all they know
