So it look like these new guitars are made in Mexico? I'm not buying. Charvel has ruin the brand by manufacturing these guitars in Mexico. I'm pretty sure some dealers are going to say oh these are great guitars for the prices but I'm no fool.

You do realize Charvel is a fender product?

I've got a Mexican Charvel that I think played better than a Japanese and USA models that I owned at the same time.

My Mexican made Charvel is great guitar. I did swap the pickups and electronics. Zero complaints with it. Sounds great gig it all the time.

They are coming out with a Jake E Lee Blueburst Model at Namm this year. I did the meet/greet with Jake in July and I told him I really wished they did the purpleburst and he said maybe they'll do that one next..who knows.

I thought the EVH and Charvel both had Korean Floyds. Either way would not buy Charvel after price hike even though I like the pink finish.

Is there a possibility of a MIM crossed swords DeMartini?

There is nothing wrong with the MIM Charvels. I own five and love them. They play great and are well made.

I did check out the specs on the new ones for NAMM and it looks like they went cheap on the necks for 2016. Instead of single piece quarter-sawn maple they are now 2 piece regular cut maple. Even with the truss-rod wheel now included, that's a deal breaker for me.

I have ZERO issues with MIM Charvels. Quality was on par with the first run MIA Pro Mods - probably the same people slapping them together if you think about it...

Charvel's SHOULD be MIA period...for Christ's sake they didn't learn the first time with IMC ???

They are if you order them from the custom shop. Feel free. If the Pro Mods were made in the US I guarentee you they would be about $200 or more street price. They were $899 when made in the US and that ended around 2010. No way they could still make them for that and be profitable.

Charvel was a strictly american-made brand for, what, six-seven years from the late 70s to about 1985? To me they were always the one exception that managed to feel right both as high end custom guitars and quality imports.

Im with you.
I've picked up a few used MiM off the shelf at music go round and GC and they feel like they're made out of balsa wood. Extremely light and cheap feeling. Maybe I had 3 bad ones? Seems like the wood is not the same as previous MiA, MIJ builds. Necks were great though. Needless to say I'll stick with my used...for the price of those new MiM you can score a used custom shop for a few hundred more.

I'm not impressed. No top mount Floyds.

My MIA pro mod from 2008 is a stellar guitar. 2 piece center seam body (you can see the faint line down the center and in the neck pocket). Slight flame maple neck and tonally, it sounds great. I have an 80's Duncan distortions in the bridge and a bridge custom 5 in the neck.

With that said, my custom shop Charvel's made in 2007/2008 are still the best. Those were some magic years.

seem pricey to me for an import...regardless if Mexico, Japan or Korea ;)

Verily, some beauteous, and unique burst finish'ings upon these axes, dear Rig-Talk'ians!

But those are canadian dollars, right? Why would a canadian site have pricing in US dollars? It adds up to like 815 US, which definitely is in the ballpark of what they´ve sold for before.

what are you saying?

The state of US production is made in USA by Mexicans, or the alternative is to be made in Mexico, by Mexicans :D

The issue, it the price. The cost savings is not passed on to the customer.
