Those prices are Canadian $, so they'll be substantially lower in US $

I thought the EVH and Charvel both had Korean Floyds. Either way would not buy Charvel after price hike even though I like the pink finish.

Yes they do. Its the 1000 series they call the "original." You can always get a 1984 MIG for $200.00

The canadian site may explain the price hike, have to check on that one..

They still have the recessed floyd route
But they did add the truss rod wheel but raised the price a bit!
the chrome hardware looks cheap

This post now concludeth!
Dude, you gotta post more....

MIM Charvel has to be close to 8lbs. Top mounted Floyd - the way I like it.
Subtle flame throughout the neck
Best bang for the buck guitar I've ever owned. Hard to spend 3k on a guitar when this thing for $500 new kills
You can take it to a gig throw it, spill your Jack and Coke on it and not think twice.

Charvel's SHOULD be MIA period...for Christ's sake they didn't learn the first time with IMC ???
They are if you order them from the custom shop. Feel free. If the Pro Mods were made in the US I guarentee you they would be about $200 or more street price. They were $899 when made in the US and that ended around 2010. No way they could still make them for that and be profitable.
I would be fine paying up to 1200 for a USA made So Cal or Pro Mod...but it would HAVE to be MIA...with the advent of CNC machines I don't see this as a hurdle, at all.

I see no problem with the MIM charvels. If the neck is indeed a 2 piece, I wouldnt be too happy with it, besides that, I've never had an issue with them.

Again, the price everyone is seeing on lamusic.ca is in canadian dollars which I believe is around .65 on the US dollar. These should be priced in the $850 to $900 range here in the US.

Agree. At first, I didn't put together the canadian site thing.

I have three Charvels...

a MIJ Wild Card #6 with an ebony fretboard, hardtail, a MIJ So-Cal with an maple neck, FR, and a MIM SD-1 hardtail rosewood neck. The MIM SD-1 neck is one of the thinnest, fastest necks I've ever played on... with that being said, the fret edges are not rounded off very well... at least not like my two MIJ's... the MIJ necks are slightly thicker all around, but the frets are smooth as a high class strippers bottom... much more playable without the perceived 'snag' you get with fret edges poking out...

I don't know if it's a matter of the two MIJ's I have being a bit older and well played before I got them and MIM being brand new as of last year, or if there's just not the same production process...

But these new models are certainly fun to look at! If I get a chance to get out of the ISP booth at NAMM, I'm gonna make a run for the Charvels and check out the Jake model!!!!

I'll stick with my '10 MIJ So-Cal.
Quartersawn (light flame) maple neck is nice.

@Psychodave, a Duncan Custom 5 SH-14 in the NECK position?!
Holy Overloadin' Output, Batman!

I have mine in the bridge of my ESP Horizon NTII. Plenty loud already. Screamin' Demon neck there. (Air Norton neck for my Charvel So-Cal and a Norton bridge, btw...)

Well the prices are actually $869 - $899 street if you look at Sweetwater and GC. I love the Specific Ocean color. That said, I'm in the market for a Floyd Rose axe. I don't have an issue with these being made in Mexico. But $869 doesn't get me a case. If I spec' out a Kiesel Bolt Plus in Seafoam Green, maple board, etc. I can get SS frets and a hard case for about $1050. Add a case to the Charvel and it's a hard sell.

I'm not impressed. No top mount Floyds.

My MIA pro mod from 2008 is a stellar guitar. 2 piece center seam body (you can see the faint line down the center and in the neck pocket). Slight flame maple neck and tonally, it sounds great. I have an 80's Duncan distortions in the bridge and a bridge custom 5 in the neck.

With that said, my custom shop Charvel's made in 2007/2008 are still the best. Those were some magic years.
Magic years for me were 1981-83
None of the newer charvels can touch a old original.

Looks like they finally made truss rod adjustment a bit easier now (that was the reason I sold my two So-Cal american made ones).
