If this was ANYBODY but him...would anyone think it was good ? I mean, he was a God once...WTF happened ? I loved this guy up through Dysfunctional...

George is George.....this is a good example of who he is as a player and not that far removed from the past 10 years. I've seen him tear it up better than this for sure, but to judge a player on one video is unfair. George has always been a "off the cuff" player! He knows a bunch of different shapes and scale fragments but he is not a technical player. One thing George does have is a unique style and tone that is all his own. Good or bad, when Lynch is playing you know it's him! Show the guy some respect, he is a living legend whether he impresses you or not! :2thumbsup:

Exactly !!

+1 - still live his unique approach to noodling around and making his mark, Lynch is always recognizable

I would love to meet and jam with George. What a cool dude. All the Internet assholes aside, it would be awesome to meet one of the guitar gods.

I have been digging some of the early work. It seems like right there he is just breaking rules of his past trends and reaching for new territory. Whatever. I like George the musician.

He wasn't on but George is still great.
He's got my respect for sure.

I did and given the chance.....you should. After a show he did a meet and greet. I told his handler (tech) I wanted to be the last one. So, I got on the bus at 2:10 AM and hung with the dude for an hour, I played his ESP bones while he riffed on the kami. For those who are wondering.....that dude can still flat out rip.

For the Lynch tone seekers....from the man himself, he uses that panisonic 4 track looking thing that he has had for years on A LOT of what you hear. He had his Kami plugged into it. I asked him to throw down some of the not so popular tracks off of Back for the attack and I am telling you it was SPOT on with the tone for the album  . Very down to earth guy. I gave him my Green bay Packers lighter and I swear I have seen him firing smokes up with that thing at various times.

It has got to be tough as an artist night in and night out to be "on" but when someone has more "off" nights than "on", I think this is where you see the comments flooding in. That said, if you watch some of the live Dokken stuff, he was already taking liberties with his own leads wayyy back when. He just drenched more of it in verb. Was he sharper? Absolutely... was he always spot on though? Nope.

The problem for me now is all these f-cked up scales he likes (which by the way he goes in and out of key on) just sound liked shit along with that choppy rythm thing he's always doing. Timing and key are two huge issues which can make you sound bad vs experimental. Almost like he refuses to play a pentatonic lick now..

Anybody know what amp was being used?

Hey...it's just my opinion..I think he's sucking...you might think he's awesome...more power to you man. Whatever. I remember the glory days, and to me it's sad that it seems like he'll never touch that again.

The glory days died in 1991.

George is a musician, artist, composer, a businessman amoung other things and one of the coolest things to happen to rock music ever. Carving out a unique and original style in the world of music for over 40 years.

Don't know if you notice but the dudes got more sig gear that any man alive and doesn't have a problem getting a gig.

What more do you want from a guitar guy, my $.02

Well, the more sig gear comment underscores two points for me...first : endorsement whore...always has been, always will be. Second, if 'ya can't sell music, sell gear to your fans, even if it's gear you don't really use (Lynchbox amps)...shows a REAL love of the people who put food on his table. Whatever.

Quite frankly if we just look at Tone .IMO that sounds way better than the last 5 years of dry un modded plexis he has used .
Is the playing perfect ... no but it does sound like Lynch

He is using a bucker ,turned off the phaser and is generating some decent tone here(Bogner??)and for that I am grateful .

Good summarization of some obvious points. People like him, his sound, his vibe, and want to spend money to be associated with him.

That is a HUGE ammount for a guitar guy....

I see he's started shopping at EVHs favorite store... Homeless, Haggard, Hobos R Us.

Whats with all these great '80s guitar gods and the "I want to look like a bum" style? I mean they have money, and certainly the chicks around him probably could help him out in the style dept. so... WTF?

tone was cool and playing very unique as always

Lynch still one the best

I am sorry he is not your type .

Would a Jon Bon Jovi ensemble be more suitable??

Looks like he was just jamming, missed a few and landed a few. Why so critical?

Isn't everybody who posts doing it better and cleaner than George?

;)

I had a one on one session with George a couple years ago, and he really is a down to earth cool guy. Enjoyed my little lesson with him immensly. Sure his playing isn't what he was formally known for, but he still plays and he can still wax my ass on the guitar.

He is bringing Grunge back....

Nah....I cant knock him a bit. Always has....always will be my favorite player.
I liked his performance on this clip. Thanks for posting.

He was my favorite player for LONG time...but other than his tone on the posted vid, I see little to celebrate. If that was some hack kid on here posting that, people would rip it to shreds. And to the guy saying that all of us who post negative comments must be doing it better or cleaner or whatever, wtf does that matter ? I haven't spent the last 25 or 30 years of my life being worshiped as a guitar god...wasn't it Lynch himself who always said he never wanted to sound dated as a player ? He was afraid not to be current ? That he wanted to not think about technique and be free to create something with vibe and cool atmosphere ? Go listen to James Lugo's mix of Bruce Bouilett's new tunes...THAT should be Lynch. I didn't know we all had to think the same. I LOVED LYNCH years ago...my favorite player from the instant I saw Breaking The Chains as a teenager on MTV...up through Dysfunctional...now I think he needs to expand...it's like watching EVH do the same old shit all the time...he never innovates any more...resting on laurels. And the Re-volutions CD ? Blaspemy pure and simple, NU Metal Dokken covers ? YUCK !I saw that tour...what a train wreck. I have his 2 latest DVD "lessons" too...waste of time. He shows the Lynchbox heads but in the blooper out takes at the end of one of the DVDs , you can see his plexi that he's REALLY running...How about the Emminence Super Vs ? Now Celestion Lynchbacks ? Screamin' Demon ? Now Super V ? Morley Dragon Wah ? Tripler ? What a farce.
