Good plan Stan.......You will be happy with one, especially after the amp line you have been playing. There will be lots of "happy tone" to be had in the KS....

Don't think about it too hard go tone searching, etc. and re-evaluate every opinion on the board. Just drop in it in with Fedex and relax for a bit until out pops the sink. Every mod will sound a bit different, even with the same components. If you get it and don't like it, grab another JMP and another mod. But, there should be enough choices on the KS to find generally what you are looking for.

So......did you get this thing yet or what??

I haven't shipped the Sink over yet, Curtis.

Snorkler should be here in a day or two.

Hagen is here.

How does the Marshall compare to your Purplexi with Dave's mods? That amp sounded killer to me.

the Purplexi was a great amp.it had the KS mod and the SAT/FAT switches,so it was loaded with all the goodies...the amp was inherantly bright and had quite a bit of bite to it.the BE mode was my fav as it seems to do the tones i love best.this BE/SAT modded 800 sounds even better to me on the BE mode.seems like no matter which amp modder you talk to,the simpler the mod circuit is,the better/purer the TONE.then again, maybe the fact that the 800,being an older Marshall with Drake trannys & all that, adds to the "magic" ;) .in either case, both amps sound great, but this 800 seems to sound a little sweeter and also the BE mode on the amp has about 10-15% more gain than the Purplexi did,so that's nice to have when you need it...ive been around & around with modded amps over the last few years and dave's mods seem to sounds the most MARSHALL with the perfect amount of cutting upper mids, sweet highs, punchy yet chewy lows with plenty of thump.there's also a bit of "just right" sag that keeps the amp from feeling stiff..........overall,a def winner!!!

and now...back the steve k's thread that i've hi-jacked   sorry there, sandman!
