speaker cab dilemma

I own a Hughes & Kettner slant cab with Celestion greenbacks in it. I'm thinking I want to try something different. I'd like to trade it for something with Vintage 30s in it but shipping would very expensive so maybe swapping the speakers would be a good idea. Stucturally it is a great
cab so I'm interested in trading speakers. I'm also thinking about replacing the greenbacks with Eminence Manowar or Red White and Blue speakers. What do you guys think? Thanks.
 
My kettner tube 100 head sounds very close to triamp. FWIW I don't like it with V30s, EVM12L on the other hand works really nice, especially for clean tones.

But everybody has his own taste, so don't rule out v30s.
 
Hey man, sorry I never got back to you. My cab was sold along with my Switchblade head and forgot to update you. In my opinion, you should keep the cab and definitely, just swap the speakers. Start out with a pair of something first. Why not try a pair of G12H30's or Classic Lead 80's. Don't X-Pattern them either. Put them on the left or right and use a stereo amp to see if you like the new speaker vs. the old and also whether you like them mixed with the greenbacks or not.

Hey no problem.
Why those particular speakers?
Using the cab in stereo is a great idea for testing.
 
I like the G12H30's as a mix to VIN30's. Just try pairs until you stumble on what you like.

I just did a little research on both and I certainly will consider those as that they weren't even on my radar. Thanx Robo :thumbsup:
