... for an at-home basement player who likes metal, shredding solo work, hard rock and cleans sometimes. The Colossus is my first high wattage amp so I'm only running a 1x12 right now, I do play it pretty loud even through the one speaker. I've read a few threads basically saying more speakers sound better, basic theory being speakers generally sound better when not pushed near its max power rating (i.e. less power per speaker = better sound) while using more surface area to generate more volume: seems to me it's like balancing the optimal amp output power (high) to optimal speaker power (for 30W speakers, low). I'm thinking of two speakers, either a single 2x12 or two 1x12. A 4x12 is highly unlikely.
I have a EVH 5150III cab w/ G12H30 Anniv. speaker. To me the H30 is bright sounding with big bass and somewhat scooped mids. While I don't mind this I believe I might want more definition in the mids of my overall sound, at times I find the H30 mids sound a bit coarse.
What would you guys recommend to me for a speaker, cab, and cab configuration?
