My buddy just picked up a Line 6 Vetta combo. The previous owner carried the footswitch in the back of the combo and it slightly damaged the speakers. You can hear the damage at decent volumes.

I did a little checking and it seems the Spider and Flextone series uses a rebadged Celestion 70/80. The Vetta uses a bigger magnet C12P-90. Line 6 has discontinued the Vetta 412 cab and only has the spider valve cab which has V30's.

What speakers should he get for the vetta combo?

- Celestion 70/80's
- Celestion Classic Lead 80's (I have a pair of speakers I can loan)
- Warehouse British Lead 80's (he has one already)
- Celestion Vintage 30's or WGS Veteran 30's
- Special order replacement speakers from Line 6 dealer. http://line6.com/community/thread/14511

id go with vintage 30's for a vetta. it will add warmth to the somewhat solidstate design and feel of the amplifier. the speaker will break up nicely and "play nice" with the vetta at all volumes.

second place would depend on the tone you were going for. but i would go with the 70's or 80's next. they design them around that speaker for a reason, so thats usually a good decision. but again, all depends on the tone you are after as well.

just my .02
