Speakers with Marsha?

Scumback m75/h75 in a port city cab.

I'd like to try a j75 in place of the h75 one of these days for a little less high end sizzle.

Pretty sure Dave Friedman likes a 4x12 loaded with bottom greenbacks and top V30's for his Marshas and BE100. Heard people like the Scumback combos to... M75/H75. I liked my Friedman Marshalls with my Scumback Cab.

I'm using Scumbacks - J75 100 watt & M75 100 watt

These are in a Scumback (Friedman?) 2x12 "adjustable" back extension cabinet.

I've got a pair of 65w J's if interested.

Give me a break...I'm not on here 24/7 ;)

Scumback M75s are what I use for the most part, but I honestly think any decent speaker will do the job. I know some folks are gonna flame me, but I'll give a more in depth response tomorrow that essentially says that your speakers are the least important part of the equation (as long as they are of a decent quality and your amp has a responsive eq).

I disagree. I think the speakers make HUGE difference.

Really? 8 ohm? :D

Thanks for the input. I know Dave uses V30s' on the bottom and GB RI 25s' on the top. I was running this combo but strayed to using h30 55s' on top. Not sure that I like the H30s' they are too clean, they don't have the grit of the 25w RI. I did briefly run 25w RI GBs' it was a little dark but sounded great. some say V30s' don't work with Marshall type tones but I've been using them for so many years they've grown on me. Oh I also used EVH GBs' in the top/V30s' bottom, which I really liked also. Anyone know which speaker the EVH is the same as?

Here's where I'm coming from in this particular case. I have cabs with Scumback M75s, Celestion T-75s, Celestion M-70s, and some kind of Eminence that was proprietary in some early 80's Marshall cabs. All of these cabs sound very different with all else equal, but we don't have to keep all else equal.

With the highly responsive and interactive eq on the Marsha, I can get any of these cabs to sound almost the same...definitely close enough that nobody would hear the difference in a live setting.

That said, I prefer the Scumbacks and use them as my standard. In an "all controls at noon" scenario they definitely sound the best.

Ah...that I can concur withto a degree.

Are the M75s' similar to GB m25 75s'? Im going with a quad of these next rehersal.

Yes, they are similar IMO. I think the greenbacks have a more aggressive edge to them whereas the scumbacks are smoother sounding.
