Just for the heck of it, try tuning a guitar that way and then strum it a few times.

If you can do that and NOT want to keep learning the song I'll be very surprised.
You can see in the video above that open ringing strings is a huge part of the whole thing.

Speaking of nerves while playing, watch the pinky of the guy's fretting hand in the video
above right about the 9-10 second mark. Dude's shaking like crazy inside!

He also makes a pretty big clam during the ending but he doesn't miss a beat and you'd never
know he messed up based on his face or body language. That's the way you do it!
