Splawn "Master Volume".. what do you do?

Yes there is a separate channel volume and gain for all Splawns. There have been one offs and exceptions though right? Are we talking about the same thing? My 2008 has separate clean and od volumes as well as gain volumes. Then, I put a volume pot/pedal in my fx to provide a 'master' volume' overall. That is essentially what Scott did with the fx master volume in the recent Splawns. I don't think there is much more too it than that.

Just looked at that Splawn thread. I think there is confusion in that thread as to what a master volume is. I believe ShinySurface has it right.

Please let me know if I now am confused.

When I had my Quickrod, I would normally run the volume on the front around 1 o'clock, and use the loop master to keep it tame overall.

I would be cooking things a bit, but still have some room that I could set the solo boost closer to 2-3 o'clock and get a little more saturation, and maybe a touch of volume. My memory may be faulty, and I could be imagining it, but I think thats how I ran it.

What do you guys use for the pad/voltage buttons if just using pedals?
I have noticed at certain settings the solo boost looses function.

Hey Dave,

There is no hard and fast rule on the dB thing. +4 is for line level and -10 is for instrument (pedal) use. Mine is at +4 dB because I feel that sounds better. So if +4 sounds good then leave it there. If you feel your pedal effects are not coming through strong enough then experiment. For example, on my amp my loop includes a reverb pedal, a delay pedal, a chorus pedal, an MX10 EQ pedal and Boss NS1 in "X" pattern. Oh, and a volume box at the very end of the loop chain - so there is actually a lot going on.

So longer answer is that 'it depends'. You won't hurt anything by experimenting. Most FX loops are set for line level (+4) to basically boost your loop volume to make up for any loss is impedance, or "transmission loss".

Regarding the Solo Boost - I don't use it much but I was always told, and also believe, that the Solo Boost volume should be a bit above where your channel volume is set. So if your Channel Volume is at 10 oclock, I would set my Solo volume at say 11 or 12 oclock. Again, practice and preference.

Lastly, I've found that my tone is slightly better if all the Clean channel settings are on max. I don't use that channel. There is bleed over from the clean to dirty channel.

Hope that helps and cheers!

It makes my delay pedal sound horrible so I have to turn the mix to almost nil and the mix is programmed to each patch..Never had the issue in any other amp even my 2008 QR

Almost sounds like there is something wrong with the amp Dave. Have you tried a volume pedal/control in the loop as well? Thanks for the square getter tubes - they definitely helped.
